Mountain Hospice

Mountain Hospice Compassionate care of terminally ill patients, their families, and pets. Mountain Hospice was established in 1991.

It was originally named “The Hospice of Barbour County”, but in 1994, the name was changed to Mountain Hospice. Mountain Hospice was started in Barbour County by a caring group of citizens who recognized the people in their community who were dying of non-curable illnesses in their homes, in hospitals, often left alone, and isolated. These caring people united to meet this need and became the foun

ders of our organization. Through their hard work and constant nurturing, Mountain Hospice grew and expanded to provide hospice services to a growing number of terminally-ill patients and their families. The relentless efforts of the founders and volunteers generated funds and donations to help this organization develop and flourish into one of the most outstanding hospices in the state. The positive comments we receive about our staff reflect our long standing goal - to provide “Comfort and Compassion When It’s Needed Most”. The support we give to hospice patients has not only been a great asset to the Barbour County community but has been made available to residents in other areas. Since 1994, our hospice services have been added to six more counties: Mineral, Randolph, Tucker, Pendleton, Pocahontas, and Grant Counties. Services Include:

•Physician Directed Care
•Professional Nursing
•24-Hour bed side care when needed
•Social work and counseling services
•Home health aides
•Chaplain for spiritual care
•Physical, speech, and occupational therapy as appropriate
•Medical supplies and equipment
•Short-term inpatient care for respite or symptom management
•Medications related to terminal illness
•Support for patients and their loved ones
•Bereavement counseling
•Consultations about ethical issues
•Volunteer assistance

Are you the perfect fit for these sweet kittens? 🐱

These two precious kittens are searching for a loving family to call their own. They were an unexpected addition to one of our patient's households, and while they are adored, their owners are unfortunately unable to take on the responsibility of two more cats.

If you're looking to add a little extra love, fun, and purrs to your home, give us a call at 304-823-3922.

Please share to help these little ones find the loving homes they deserve! 🏡💕

Today, Mountain Hospice donated an AED to Elkins High School Athletics, helping ensure life-saving equipment is available when it matters most. The safety & well-being of our community is something we deeply value, and we are honored to partner with Tiger Athletics to support their athletes, coaches, and fans.
At Mountain Hospice, caring for our community extends beyond providing hospice services. It means showing up, supporting one another, and helping make the communities we serve stronger. 💪🐅
