Blind ranking discontinued 90’s snacks because I’m old and nostalgic.

Honestly, this is a damn good top 5 for a blind ranking.

OK fellow millennials, what’s in YOUR top 5?

Chobani legally has 0g sugar, but it has allulose, which is technically sugar, so it can’t claim “zero sugar.” Even though there’s…0 sugar.

Food labels are fun, aren’t they?

This is such a weird one, but relevant, because a LOT of brands use allulose for sugar-free products. Depending on the result, a lot of those labels could be forced to change.

We’ll see!

I have a ton of cheesy protein products in my house right now so here’s what I think of all of them.

WILDE Protein Snacks are an absolute must buy. My new favorite snack. Cheddies Cheese Crackers are right up there too, albeit less protein.

Meal Boosters cheddar powder is legit, and PopCorners protein chips are what you’d expect/hope.

The others I mentioned….pass.

Couple others worth mentioning off the top of my head: Quest Nutrition cheese crackers are also awesome, and Protein Doritos are surprisingly serviceable. I just don’t have either in my house.

What else am I missing?

Look, I know my designs aren’t perfect. But please help humanity if we think this Coca Cola Green is a 10x improvement over what I made.

The videos I make are fun because you get to watch the rebrand unfold and I can talk through my reasoning and talk about the tricks that companies often pull. I love that it also sparks conversations and people can critique it and tell me what they would change.

Ya know, human creativity and communication.

But yeah…I guess AI can generate a terrible end-product in 3 seconds, so that’s just as fun too.

What would Mountain Dew® look like if it rebranded as a functional soda?

I feel like this could sit right on shelves next to the prebiotic sodas out there and nobody would even think twice.

What do you think?

I often feel like my message gets misinterpreted, so here’s a little insight into WHY I do rebranding videos.

I know “design” is in my name, but it has never been about showing off designs. And it’s not about demonizing food. It’s about making you aware of all the silly food labeling tricks that companies are using, and having some fun along the way.

And I’ll keep doing rebrands as long as everyone continues to enjoy them 🤝 So in the meantime, comment with a challenging rebrand idea and I’ll see if I can make it happen soon!

Doritos veggie chips are here!

This is pretty much exactly what veggie straws currently do- they’re not made from veggies, they just contain some vegetable powder. So, we can technically rebrand Doritos to do the same thing.

I’m ready for a challenge. What else should I try to rebrand to sound healthy?

I was told I needed to visit Buc-ee's while traveling and I can confirm it’s worth a stop. Weird place, but fun place.

Everyone said I NEEDED the brisket…and it was fine. But to be fair, this is Ohio and not Texas, so that probably plays into it. I can confirm the jerky and beaver nuggets are both very worth it though.

And I always appreciate weird merch, too.

Actual emails I have gotten through my website. People are fun.

I feel terrible about the soup thing and I will add it to my menu ASAP.

Give my protein quality calculator a try at cheatdaydesign.com/protein-quality (or just cheatdaydesign.com and click on the tool if you want to type less)

This is not a “healthy product” calculator. The purpose is strictly to evaluate protein quality, not healthfulness.

A low score doesn’t mean a product can’t be healthy, and a high score doesn’t mean a product is necessarily healthy. Obviously individual ingredients matter, and “healthy” is subjective.

I can’t take every single factor into account, and I didn’t want to overcomplicate the tool, so use this to get a quick snapshot about a protein product to be able to compare it against similar products.

This tool used to include price as well, but since the price of protein has skyrocketed, it really started to skew things, so I decided to remove that portion for now.

Let me know if you have any questions!
