On this final day of Nurses’ Week, we’d like to take this opportunity to thank the newest member of our NHS3 Advisory Board, Blake Smith, MSN, RN, FADLN, FAAN, who joined the NHS3 Board earlier this year. Blake is President of the Nebraska Nurses Association and an Sr. Application Analyst at Nebraska Health. We are so excited to have his deep connections throughout the Midwest and his perspectives from his time as President of the American Association for Men in Nursing.

As we continue to shine a spotlight on our amazing NHS3 Advisory Board, we would like to thank Sasha DuBois, MSN, RN, NEA-BC. Sasha is a Nurse Manager at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital and has been on our Board since the very beginning. She has been absolutely fantastic at connecting us locally and nationally through her deep network and connections to the Black Nurses Association.

Katie Boston-Leary, MSN, RN, NEA-BC, is the Senior Vice President of Equity and Engagement for the American Nurses Association, and has been a member of our Board since the beginning. We value our partnership with ANA, and Katie has been crucial in connecting us with partners throughout the nursing world.

Today we’d like to thank another member of our NHS3 Advisory Board, Melissa Pérez Capotosto, PhD, RN, WHNP-BC. Melissa is an Associate Professor of the Practice (Nursing) and Women's Health Nurse Practitioner at Boston College’s Connell School of Nursing.

We were lucky enough to first meet Melissa when she came to NHS3 looking for data to use in her thesis on fertility based awareness methods. Along with Dr. Jones, he has been an extraordinary partner, co-leading our advisory board since 2025, and NHS3 is a stronger study for his leadership and insights, especially into the student nurse perspective!

121,700 nurses have participated in NHS since 1976 (50 years!); 116,429 have been in NHSII since 1989; and over 50,000 have joined the newest cohort (NHS3) over the past 15 years.

Turns out that daily cup of caffeinated coffee or tea may be doing more than helping keep you awake!

One to two cups of caffeinated tea per day helps too, researchers found after following nearly 132,000 people for 40 years.
