What’s better than fresh-baked cookies? Fresh-baked cookies and a lively game of Hangman! 🍪🎉 Our seniors had a fantastic time showing off their creativity with Chef Sara, and their word-guessing skills during a friendly round of games. Plenty of laughs were shared all around! 😊

Welcome, October! 🍂 Pumpkin spice, crunching leaves, and soft flannel shirts—autumn brings so many wonderful sensory memories.
This month, our residents Longhouse Assisted Living will be exploring the sights, sounds, and tastes of fall through baking, music, and seasonal decor. There is nothing quite like the comfort of October. 🧡

While colouring may seem like a simple art form, the rhythmic, repetitive motion of filling in shapes helps put the brain into a meditative state for senior adults, effectively lowering anxiety and easing unease. At Longhouse Assisted Living Households, engaging our clients in these activities has proved to be effective.

Supporting Families Through Alzheimer’s and Memory Care.

Today, I want to share a helpful idea on how to stay connected with a loved one in memory care. When a loved one, especially a parent, moves into memory care, it can be difficult to know how to maintain that connection. While dementia changes how they communicate, meaningful interaction is still very possible. Your presence matters, and simple activities can provide immense comfort and reassurance. One effective way to connect is through music. Creating a personalized playlist of their favorite songs to listen to together can help evoke fond memories, lift their mood, and offer a sense of comfort. 🎶💕
