PTSD doesn’t always look like what people expect. 💚

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder can affect people after experiencing or witnessing something overwhelming, frightening, or deeply painful. And sometimes, the effects show up long after the event itself.

PTSD may look like:

• Feeling constantly “on guard”
• Avoiding certain people, places, or situations
• Nightmares or unwanted memories
• Irritability or emotional outbursts
• Difficulty sleeping or concentrating
• Feeling numb, disconnected, or withdrawn
• Anxiety that seems to come out of nowhere

These responses can be the mind and body’s way of trying to protect you after trauma.

Healing doesn’t mean forgetting what happened. It means learning how to live without the past controlling the present.

With support, healthy coping skills, and professional treatment, healing is possible.

If you or someone you love is struggling with the effects of trauma, reaching out for help can be an important first step.

Green Apple Behavioral Health - Helping you move toward healing, one step at a time.💚

💚 They can’t know what you don’t communicate.

Sometimes we expect the people around us to just know.

To know we’re overwhelmed.
To know something hurt our feelings.
To know we need reassurance.
To know we need space.
To know we need help.

And when they don’t recognize it, resentment can start to build.

But expecting someone to read our mind can create unhealthy patterns in our relationships… silence, assumptions, frustration, withdrawal, and eventually conflict.

Healthy communication means learning to say:

💬 “I’m struggling today.”
💬 “That hurt me, and I’d like to talk about it.”
💬 “I need some support right now.”
💬 “I need a little space, but we’re okay.”
💬 “Can I tell you what I need?”

Communicating your feelings isn’t being needy or creating conflict. It’s giving the people who care about you the opportunity to understand you.

And listening when someone communicates their feelings to you without immediately becoming defensive… is just as important.

Healthy relationships aren’t built on mind reading.

They’re built on honesty, communication, listening, and the willingness to understand one another. 💚

At Green Apple Behavioral Health, we believe healthier communication can create healthier relationships… with others and with ourselves.

📱💚 SOCIAL MEDIA CAN BE GOOD FOR YOUR MENTAL HEALTH, TOO.

We hear a lot about the negative side of social media, and those concerns are real. But social media itself isn’t necessarily the problem. How we use it matters.

When used intentionally, social media can be a place for connection, encouragement, education, and even a little laughter when we need it most.

Try creating a healthier relationship with your feed:

🌿 Follow accounts that inspire, educate, or encourage you.
🌿 Unfollow or mute content that consistently leaves you anxious, angry, inadequate, or drained.
🌿 Connect with people you genuinely care about… not just numbers on a screen.
🌿 Share kindness. You never know who may need the encouragement.
🌿 Remember that someone else’s highlight reel is not the measuring stick for your real life.
🌿 Take breaks when scrolling stops feeling good.
🌿 Put the phone down and make sure you’re still present in the life happening around you.

And maybe most importantly…

Protecting your peace online isn’t rude. It’s healthy. 💚

Your social media should add something positive to your life… not constantly make you question your worth, your relationships, or your progress.

At Green Apple Behavioral Health, we believe mental wellness includes learning to create healthy boundaries in every area of life… even online.

🍏 Be intentional about what you consume.
🍏 Be mindful of what you share.
🍏 And remember: your real life deserves more attention than your feed.

🌿 SUNDAY RESET
Green Apple Behavioral Health

Before you start thinking about everything you need to do this week… check in with you.

How are you really doing?

Sunday doesn’t have to be about catching up on everything you didn’t get done. Sometimes the healthiest reset looks like slowing down, clearing a little mental clutter, and deciding what you want to carry into the new week, and what you’re ready to leave behind.

✨ Take a few deep breaths.
✨ Put down something that’s been weighing on you.
✨ Set one healthy boundary for the week ahead.
✨ Make space for something that brings you peace.
✨ Remind yourself that you don’t have to have everything figured out today.

And maybe ask yourself:

“What do I need this week to feel more supported, grounded, and like myself?”

Your mental health deserves a place on this week’s priority list, too. 💚

At Green Apple Behavioral Health – Bozeman, we believe caring for your mental health doesn’t have to wait until you’re in crisis. Sometimes it starts with simply recognizing that you could use a little support.

💚 Marriage Counseling Isn’t Just for Marriages in Crisis

Sometimes the strongest thing two people can say is:

“We love each other, but we need some help finding our way back to each other.”

Marriage can go through hard seasons.

Work stress.
Parenting.
Financial pressure.
Broken trust.
Life changes.
Communication that somehow turned into arguing… or maybe stopped altogether.

You don’t have to wait until someone is ready to walk away before asking for help.

Marriage counseling can provide a safe, neutral space to slow things down, improve communication, work through unresolved hurt, rebuild connection, and learn healthier ways to navigate conflict together.

Seeking counseling doesn’t mean your marriage has failed.

Sometimes it means you believe your relationship is worth fighting for… not fighting in. 💚

At Green Apple Behavioral Health, we believe asking for support is a sign that you’re willing to do the work toward something healthier.

📞 Call (406) 866-0350 to learn more about counseling services or schedule an appointment.

You don’t have to wait for a crisis to start rebuilding connection.

You Were Never Meant to Navigate the Hard Seasons Alone

Life can change faster than we’re prepared for.

A loss.
A relationship ending or changing.
A move.
Family changes.
Trauma… old or new.
A health or career transition.
Or simply realizing that life doesn’t look the way you thought it would.

Even positive changes can leave us feeling overwhelmed, uncertain, or emotionally exhausted.

One of the most important things we can have during these seasons is a healthy support system.

Support doesn’t always mean someone who can “fix” what’s happening. Sometimes it’s someone who listens without judgment, reminds you that your feelings matter, helps you find perspective, and walks beside you while you figure out what comes next.

And sometimes, that support includes reaching beyond friends and family and talking with a professional.

At Green Apple Behavioral Health, we believe asking for support is a healthy step toward healing, growth, and learning how to move forward… even when life looks very different than it used to.

You don’t have to wait until you’re in crisis to reach out. 💚

As our loved ones grow older, it’s easy to assume that changes in mood, memory, or behavior are simply “part of aging.”

The truth is, they aren’t always.

Depression, anxiety, grief, loneliness, and other mental health challenges can affect older adults just as much as anyone else, but they often go unnoticed because the signs can look different.

Some things to watch for include:

💚 Withdrawing from family or activities they once enjoyed
💚 Changes in sleep or appetite
💚 Increased irritability or sadness
💚 Memory or concentration changes that seem unusual
💚 Neglecting personal hygiene or household responsibilities
💚 Expressing feelings of hopelessness or being a burden
💚 Unexplained aches, pains, or fatigue
💚 Increased use of alcohol or medications to cope

Many seniors grew up in a time when talking about mental health wasn’t encouraged. They may never ask for help, even when they’re struggling.

A simple conversation, a listening ear, or encouraging them to speak with a mental health professional can make a world of difference.

At Green Apple Behavioral Health, we believe mental wellness matters at every stage of life. No one should have to face life’s challenges alone.

📞 If you or someone you love could benefit from support, we’re here to help.

Mental health doesn’t have to reach a breaking point before it’s worthy of attention.

Too often, people wait until they’re overwhelmed, exhausted, or in full crisis before asking for help. The truth is, the earlier you seek support, the more tools you’ll have to navigate life’s challenges before they become unmanageable.

Maybe you’re noticing increased stress.
Maybe you’re not sleeping well.
Maybe you’re feeling anxious, irritable, disconnected, or simply not like yourself.

Those are reasons to reach out… not reasons to wait.

Seeking help early isn’t a sign of weakness. It’s one of the strongest decisions you can make for yourself and the people who care about you.

You don’t have to hit rock bottom to deserve support. Sometimes the bravest step is asking for help while you’re still standing.

📞 Green Apple Behavioral Health is here to help. Because prevention is always easier than recovering from a crisis.

Love does not mean accepting toxic behavior.

One of the biggest misconceptions is believing that if we truly love someone, we should tolerate anything they do. But healthy love and unhealthy control are two very different things.

Love says:

💚 “I want what’s best for both of us.”
💚 Respects your thoughts, feelings, and boundaries.
💚 Allows room for healthy disagreements.
💚 Encourages growth, healing, and independence.
💚 Takes accountability when mistakes are made.

Control says:

⚠️ “If you loved me, you would…”
⚠️ Uses guilt, fear, or manipulation to get its way.
⚠️ Isolates you from friends, family, or support.
⚠️ Makes you feel like you’re constantly walking on eggshells.
⚠️ Expects you to sacrifice your peace while refusing to change harmful behaviors.

Loving someone doesn’t require you to lose yourself.

You can have compassion for someone’s struggles while still protecting your own emotional and mental well-being. Healthy boundaries aren’t punishment… they’re an act of self-respect and an important part of every healthy relationship.

If you’re questioning whether a relationship feels loving or controlling, know that you’re not alone. Talking with a trusted mental health professional can help you gain clarity, rebuild confidence, and create healthier patterns moving forward.

At Green Apple Behavioral Health, we’re here to support healing, healthy relationships, and emotional wellness… one step at a time. 💚
