Bridgewater Retirement Community

Bridgewater Retirement Community Discover "energy for life" in a community that provides the support and opportunities to live your retirement to the fullest.

What we love at BRC is our sense of community. Enjoying the feel of small-town living, while maintaining our connections with the greater community is what makes Bridgewater Retirement Community such a great place to live. It's that welcome feeling you get when your neighbor greets you, when team members know your name. We are a comfortable neighborhood where senior adults (55 plus) can enjoy the

benefits of small-town living while enjoying the freedom to make the most of retirement. The wide variety of housing and healthcare options in this lively Life Plan Community allows you to relax in the beauty of the Shenandoah Valley while remaining a close travel distance to the attractions of Richmond, Charlottesville, Roanoke, Washington DC, and other metropolitan areas. Set aside home maintenance and lawn care and free up time for your family, friends, and the pastimes you cherish. At BRC, you'll discover a wide variety of maintenance-free apartments, cottages, and cluster homes, set in gently winding streets with mature trees and beautiful landscaping. We've never lost that "old-fashioned" sense of neighborhood. People share an easy fellowship, caring about one another and enjoying activities when they choose. Best of all, living here lets you enjoy peace of mind, knowing you've secured your future in a comfortable, friendly community.

Change makers in action!

At this year's LeadingAge Virginia Annual Conference, our Vice President of Independent Living, Jeannette, joined residents Cindy and Fred to present alongside peers from VMRC and Sunnyside Retirement Community on the power of resident-team partnerships.

Centered around the conference theme of "Change Makers," they shared how Tri-Community meetings bring residents from all three communities together to build connections and exchange ideas—with residents leading the way and team serving as partners and supporters.

We're proud of Cindy, Fred, and Jeannette for showcasing what makes BRC special: a culture where residents have a voice, collaboration is encouraged, and meaningful change happens when people work together.

Congratulations to this year's recipients of the Foundation's Professional Development Grants:

We're proud to support Juana, Jaime, Odesa, Sara, Sarah, and Catherine (pictured left to right), as well as Brenda and Asmah (not pictured), as they continue to grow their skills and pursue new opportunities!

At BRC, we believe one of the best investments we can make is in our people. When our team members learn, grow, and thrive, our entire community benefits—and that's part of what makes our culture so special.

Thank you to our generous donors for helping make opportunities like these possible! 🎓👏

What a magical evening at our "Enchanted Forest" Prom Night! ✨🧚

We filled the dance floor thanks to a very entertaining DJ and enjoyed great eats from our amazing dining team! But the highlight of the night had to be the dance-floor duel between Captain Hook and Peter Pan. ⚔️

Now... what will we come up with next? 🤔

Price Crenshaw, Community Engagement Coordinator for HCPS, and Volunteer and Renew Rocktown Steering Committee Member Bill Howe are working to relocate and revitalize the school garden at Waterman Elementary School. They have partnered with Jeremy Harold and Harrisonburg Public Works to source wood through the Urban Wood program.

The goal is to support growing food for the Harrisonburg City Public Schools nutrition program while integrating with school curriculum, aligning garden-based learning into standards of learning.

In the final part of Abby and Patrick’s journey, they reflect on the support that helped bring BRC’s new FEES program to life—including the guidance of resident Dr. Zapanta, a retired ENT who supervised the final flexible endoscope passes required for their certification.

His expertise, encouragement, and willingness to share his time helped turn an innovative idea into a reality for our residents.

We sent Jadin off into her wedding weekend BRC-style yesterday with a surprise Power Up class full of laughter, movement, and marriage advice! 💪💍

Residents kept their bodies moving while sharing questions, wisdom, and tips for married life as Jadin “walked down the aisle.” And to round it up… there was a hysterical round of Pin the Stache on the husband! 😂

We’re so lucky to have Jadin, and equally lucky to have a fitness team that knows how to turn every occasion into something fun, creative, and unforgettable.
