You’re so proud of your child and you see limitless potential in them.

Which is why it can be bewildering to see them struggling in a cycle of anxiety.

They aren’t trying to be nervous, or to get in their own way — their brain may actually be telling them they aren’t safe. That’s hard to handle as a child.

You can help them understand the way their brain works. Anxiety is entirely treatable, you and your child just need to learn the skills and tools to manage it.

Reach out for resources. Ask for help.

A common myth is that if a child is only anxious about one thing, it’s not actually an issue.

The fact is, when anxiety becomes problematic in one area, it may not show up anywhere else.

It can still be disruptive, overwhelming, and exhausting — and once it becomes a struggle for a child, it’s not likely to get better on its own.

Follow along throughout Mental Health Awareness Month as we highlight anxiety, link to helpful resources, and help parents approach their kids with curiosity, honesty, and understanding.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. This year, Brightline is focusing on anxiety to help families with anxious moments and symptoms — both big and small. Visit brightline.com/anxiety for more information and resources.

Our psychiatry program is led by our Chief Medical Officer, Nikhil Nadkarni, MD.

He holds dual board certifications in Adult and Child/Adolescent Psychiatry, and ensures every child receives evidence-based, compassionate care.

Our team of psychiatrists, behavioral health-focused pediatricians, and nurse practitioners works together under Dr. Nadkarni’s guidance to see the “whole picture” of your child’s health.

From the first check-in to long-term maintenance, your family is in expert hands.

You may have noticed your child struggling to focus, stay organized, or control impulses — and you’re wondering if neurodivergence could be the reason.

Maybe your child is a daydreamer or an energetic explorer who finds it hard to slow down. Or, you’re here with a diagnosis and you’re looking for clear answers to complex questions, so you and your child can move forward with confidence and hope.

The journey toward clarity begins with understanding. Our role is to help you and your child know and accept themselves while learning the skills that will help them succeed at home, in school, and beyond.
