🚨 LOCKPORT — THIS SATURDAY 🚨

Too many people in our communities are struggling in silence with food insecurity, homelessness, untreated mental health needs, addiction, transportation barriers, and lack of access to basic resources. The truth is, recovery and stability become almost impossible when someone’s basic needs are not being met.

That’s why Creative Restorations INC, alongside incredible community partners including Mental Health Association in Niagara County, Northpointe Council, and The Gathering Place Project are coming together for the Lockport Community Health Fair on Saturday, May 30th from 11AM–5PM at the Catholic Charities Parking Lot on Walnut Street.

This is more than just an event — it’s a day focused on rebuilding connection, hope, and access to real support.

Come out. Bring your family. Bring someone who may need support.
Let’s show Lockport what happens when a community comes together. 💯

People often ask us…

“What does food giveaways, transportation, housing help, hygiene products, peer support and recovery have to do with each other?”

This video explains it perfectly.

Recovery is NOT just telling someone to stop using drugs.
Recovery is rebuilding a human life from the ground up.

You cannot expect someone to focus on healing while they are:

* hungry,
* homeless,
* sleeping on a couch,
* walking miles to probation,
* missing appointments because they have no ride,
* trying to recover in isolation,
* or wondering how they’re going to feed their children tonight.

This is why the work we do at Creative Restorations INC matters.

Every food box.
Every bus pass.
Every ride.
Every hygiene kit.
Every apartment application.
Every medically tailored meal.
Every peer conversation.
Every referral.
Every Friday and Saturday giveaway.

It all connects.

Because recovery starts with stability.

The evidence now clearly shows that people recover better when their basic human needs are met first. When someone has food, transportation, safe housing, community support and people who genuinely care about them — their chances of long-term recovery dramatically improve.

That’s why we focus on the WHOLE person.

Not just addiction.
Not just treatment.
Not just paperwork.

The entire human being.

Over the last year alone, CR INC has:

* connected nearly 1,000 individuals to services,
* linked hundreds to treatment,
* provided thousands of pounds of food,
* distributed transportation support across WNY,
* assisted families facing homelessness,
* and continued showing up for people many systems overlook.

And the most important part?

This work is led by people with lived experience.

People who understand addiction.
People who understand incarceration.
People who understand trauma.
People who understand what it feels like to have absolutely nothing and still fight to rebuild.

That’s why our approach works.

We are not “above” the community.
We ARE the community.

The truth is:
Recovery doesn’t only happen inside a counseling office, or in a self help meeting…

Sometimes recovery starts with:

* a hot meal,
* a ride to court,
* a safe place to sleep,
* someone answering the phone,
* or one person saying:
“I’m not giving up on you.”

That’s the model.
That’s the evidence.
That’s the future of recovery work.

And that’s exactly why we do what we do.

Rest In Peace to DJ Rob Base 🕊️🎤

For so many of us, hip hop wasn’t just music — it was culture, energy, confidence, and an escape. Artists like Rob Base helped introduce an entire generation of kids around the world to that feeling. I know he was one of the artists that pulled me into hip hop at a young age.

The beats, the style, the originality, the way the music made people move and come together — that era helped shape the foundation of what hip hop became. His influence reached far beyond records and radio play. It reached neighborhoods, school hallways, block parties, car stereos, and kids searching for something they could connect to.

Thank you for helping inspire generations through music and culture.

Your legacy will live forever through the sound of hip hop.

Rest easy legend. 🕊️💯

This article from Investigative Post is hard to read…because for many of us, it’s not just a story — it’s real life.

When people come home from prison, everyone talks about “reentry” and “second chances.” But what happens when the only housing available is infested with bed bugs, filled with violence, untreated mental illness, drug activity, and landlords exploiting desperation for profit?

This is the reality too many justice-involved individuals in Buffalo are facing.

I lived it. I know what it’s like to walk into a room after prison hoping for a fresh start, only to realize the conditions are worse than what you just left behind. No human being trying to rebuild their life should have to choose between homelessness and living in unsafe, unlicensed boarding houses.

At Creative Restorations INC, we see this every single day. Men and women returning home wanting to work, reconnect with family, stay sober, comply with parole, and heal from trauma — but being placed into environments that practically guarantee failure.

You cannot expect successful reintegration while housing people in conditions filled with chaos, violence, infestations, and hopelessness.

Housing IS public safety.
Housing IS recovery.
Housing IS reentry.

Buffalo needs more than conversations. We need:
• Safe transitional housing
• Accountability for exploitative landlords
• Real reintegration funding
• Trauma-informed support services
• Community-based solutions led by people with lived experience

Big respect to Investigative Post for shedding light on an issue most people never see. These stories matter because the people living them matter.

People recently released from prison often rent rooms in boarding houses, some of which are illegal, unclean and unsafe.
