Of Niagara Falls, NY, at the age of 89 after several years of declining health. Claire was born at the Mid Valley Hospital near Scranton, PA. At the age of 5 her family moved to Atlantic City, NJ and lived three blocks from the boardwalk. The family later moved to Niagara Falls, NY, where they resided in the Love Canal neighborhood. Claire graduated from LaSalle High School in 1955. She was employed at the Telephone Company after graduation and then the Kimberly Clark Corporation. It was at Kimberly that she met the love of her life, Jim. They were married on June 1, 1963 and remained in the Niagara Falls area. Jim and Claire were married for 51 years before his passing in 2014. Claire held several jobs over the years retiring in her early 60's after being an office manager for many years for Arnold Kraden, DO in the United Office Building in downtown Niagara Falls. Jim and Claire enjoyed travelling and had a favorite trip to Nova Scotia. They took advantage of occasional nights at the Seneca Niagara Casino, with Claire once winning a $50,000 jackpot! Claire is survived by her stepchildren, Catherine (Michael) Fedak and James (Yukyong) Pryce; her grandchildren, Nina Fedak, Dillon (Emily) Fedak and Shawn Pryce; also survived by her sisters, Rosemary Howe and Diane Wehrlin; nephews, Gregory Howe and Andrew Ritter. Claire will also be greatly missed by her beloved friends, Mary Lawton and Mary Wilhelm; and her granddog, Clark. No prior visitation. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place at WNY National Cemetery as Jim was a Korean War Veteran. A longtime nurse, world traveler, and devoted servant of Jesus Christ.

Of Elma, New York; a Registered Nurse serving as a Captain in the US Army reserves Nurse Corp, South Buffalo Mercy Hospital, Roswell, and DDSO Center. Awarded outstanding Employee 2014. She was an avid world traveler, and her passport was well-stamped after travels to Africa, Brazil, Galapagos, Asia, Europe, Central America and having visited all 50 states! Volunteered as a Docent at the Buffalo Zoo for over a decade, with a focus on educating children and families. Died From Complications of a Life Lived Well. She departed this life for her next great adventure. “She is not dead- but only flying higher, higher than she’s flown before, and earthly limitations will hinder her no more.” Dearest mother of Edwin J. Hartman Jr. (Kathy) and James B. Hartman (Dr. Fabian Rodriguez); Nana of Dr. Amanda L. Hartman (Matthew R. Buss) and Jacob W. Hartman. No prior visitation. Of Chaffee, NY, peacefully on August 28, 2026, leaving behind a family who will remember his compassionate and kind heart, his easy going nature, the warmth he showed those he loved, and the happiness he found in the outdoors.

Paul and his wife, Paula, grew up just down the road from one another in West Falls, New York. They married young and, for 59 years, shared a life together and raised their three sons: Paul "Jay" (Lori) Schroeder, Kevin (Angel) Schroeder, and Todd (Stacey) Schroeder. Their family grew to include five grandchildren, PJ (Britany), Kody, Garrett, Alicia, and Easton, as well as seven great-grandchildren. Few things brought Paul more joy than having his grandchildren and great-grandchildren around.
Paul was the son of the late Charlotte (Robert) Baur and Lawrence Schroeder. He was the brother of the late Douglas (Edith) Schroeder, the late Joy Murphy, David (Bonnie) Schroeder, and Joan (Jim) Brooks.

He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1965 to 1969. After returning home, he worked at ATI until its closing and then went on to work at Fisher Price. He later worked for Brooks Rigging, where he remained until his retirement in 2011.

Paul found peace in the simple things. The outdoors was where he felt most at home. He loved hunting, fishing, and simply being surrounded by nature. Some of the memories he leaves behind are equally simple and special, including his grandchildren picking blueberries from his blueberry bushes and fresh walleye brought home from a day of fishing with friends to become dinner with the family.

Paul did not need many words to show his love. It could be felt in the way his face lit up when his grandchildren and great-grandchildren came around, in the life he and Paula built over nearly six decades, and in the warm hugs he gave so freely. Those expressions of love and the memories made throughout his life will be deeply missed and carried on by his family.

In accordance with Paul's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Donations may be made to: Hospice Foundation, PO Box 590, Buffalo, NY 14240.

Michael was a proud retired New York State Safety Inspector, a former member of the Erie County Department of Homeland Security & Emergency Services HazMat team, and volunteer firefighter. Michael’s greatest pride and joy was his family and his beloved Eggertsville Hose Company, which he served for more than 43 years.
