We had the best time today, practicing a little yoga with rescued greyhounds. It was mostly ooohing, aaaahing, getting kisses and pets, and getting into the greyhound zen vibe. We were so happy awareness and money for Greyhound Options Inc. , an amazing non profit organization who fosters and find homes for retired racing greyhounds. Thank you so much for all you do!! We can’t wait to do it again! 🙏🏼❤️

Something new is coming to The Embody School this fall, and I’m so excited about it. 💙

We’re offering our first-ever Mindful Birthing & Parenting course — a 9-week, evidence-based program for expectant parents, led by Tonya Salerno.

Pregnancy is one of the biggest transitions a body and a life can go through. This course gives you real, practical mindfulness tools for navigating it — reducing stress and anxiety during pregnancy, meeting labor with more calm and confidence, and carrying those skills into parenthood and everyday life.

Here’s how it works:
🌿 Tuesdays, 6:30–8:30 pm on Zoom (Sept 15–Nov 10)
🌿 One in-person retreat day at the studio, Sunday, Oct 18
🌿 Guided mindfulness practice, childbirth education, prenatal yoga, and honest group discussion
🌿 $400 per couple / $300 individual

Whether this is your first baby or your fourth, you deserve to feel prepared and supported — not just informed.

Space is limited. Link in bio to register, or visit embodyschool.com.

Tag an expectant parent who’d love this. 🤍

Thank you to Malaika Ms. Bonafide Creations & Yoga for a wonderful healing session and to The Boston Garden 🪴💨 for sponsoring our event. A magical evening was had by all. Om Shanti. 🙏🏼

If you have chronic tension that regular stretching doesn’t seem to resolve, this is your sign. TRE is not just for trauma. It’s for chronic stress and tension that can become chronic pain over time. As a person with myofascial pain syndrome, this has been my game changer. Join me this Saturday. Link in bio!

I often advise my students not to pay attention to advanced poses and to never make them the goal of their practice. I’ve never made it a goal because as an artist, a part of me think the process is always the best part.

And to be honest, I’m probably also projecting. My body has been so tight, inflexible (and now dealing with cervical and lumbar disc degeneration) that even after 30 years, I still feel like I’ll never get there.

So I just keep practicing. My favorite way to practice is sloooowly and gently.

And yet, at 56, I’m stronger than I’ve ever been! Why? Erich Shiffmann, my favorite yoga teacher, said “Keep it simple, but do it a lot.” My personal practice focuses on the therapeutic side of asana, targeting smaller muscle groups to support my spine.

The other day, a young teacher I was talking to about challenging poses mentioned this pose, 8 angle pose. I told her I’ve never tried it because I had no desire to and most likely couldn’t do it since I only practice gentle yoga…but then I thought, “hmmm…but then again, why not try it for funzies?” 😂

So I asked her to teach me.

And this is what happened.

It didn’t feel easy but I was VERY surprised, delightfully so! It was nice to see how a consistent practice can result in doing things we never expected to do. I allowed myself to feel proud and empowered, while also recognizing that part of myself that warns against ego gratification or performative actions. It’s okay to have both!

And this. This is why we practice. Self examination leads to self realization, eventually. Yoga gives us the opportunity to do this in various ways if we’re open to seeing it.

So yeah, I did this pose. It was hard but also fun. And I most likely will not make it part of my regular practice but I’m glad I tried it. 😉

If this resonates with you, please share in the comments! I’d love to hear your story. 🙏🏼

Join us for a blissful evening under our magical nebulas and stars as you take in the frequencies of crystal singing bowls, chimes, and other instruments to calm your nervous system and bring you into a state of calm. We’ll be practicing restorative yoga and offering reiki as well. Gummies and/or other forms of cannabis will be gifted to you but feel free to smoke beforehand as we’re not allowed to smoke indoors. Cannabis, in small amounts, can be helpful in getting you out of your head and into your body, increasing interoceptive awareness. Of course, you can still come and enjoy without cannabis. We’ll be offering CBD as well.
