Training and preparedness play an important role in helping healthcare teams and first responders respond quickly and effectively during emergencies.

On Wednesday, May 20, Putnam Hospital will partner with local emergency agencies for a coordinated active shooter preparedness drill on campus. Community members may notice emergency vehicles and personnel throughout the day as teams participate in the exercise.

We appreciate the collaboration of all participating agencies and thank our community for their understanding as we continue prioritizing safety, readiness and emergency response planning!

No two days look the same in the Emergency Department, and Samantha’s shift shows exactly why.

This National Nurses Week, follow Samantha Hartshorn, RN at Putnam Hospital through a real in the Emergency Department. From helicopter arrivals to critical moments like heart attacks, to navigating systems going down and back up again, this is the reality of nursing: unpredictable, fast-paced and deeply human. 🚁

In her words, “Some days in the Putnam Emergency Department feel like everything falls into place, and some days test you in every way possible. But through it all, I wouldn’t change what I do. Being there alongside my coworkers and colleagues for my patients, in their hardest moments, is what makes it all worth it.”

Nursing is resilience, compassion and showing up no matter what.
