✨Meet Jolene!✨

If you’ve called or walked through the doors at Summit PT, chances are you’ve already met our wonderful Patient Access Team Lead, Jolene Dalbec!

Jolene has been caring for patients at CHI for 27 years and has been part of the Summit PT family for the past year. With all those years of experience, she knows that great patient care starts the moment someone walks through the door.

When asked what she loves most about Summit, Jolene said:

✨”We are all a family here and really care about each other.”

And that’s exactly the feeling she wants our patients to experience, too:

✨“Once you step through the door to PT, you are treated as family.”

When Jolene isn’t welcoming patients, helping keep the front office running smoothly, or making everyone feel at home, you can find her gardening or watching ghost stories!She’s also a proud cat mom to Simon, who apparently has no problem showing his love with plenty of kisses!

✨ Meet Amy Richter, PT, DPT! ✨

Amy was born and raised in Badger, Minnesota, a small town in Northwestern Minnesota. She earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of North Dakota in 2021.

After graduation, Amy gained experience working in pediatric outpatient clinics in Phoenix, Arizona, and Mandan, North Dakota. She later moved to Sykeston, where she began working alongside Kyle three years ago and has continued to grow her passion for helping patients of all ages.

Amy’s experience and training include:
• Pediatric outpatient physical therapy
• Pediatrics in the school setting
• Pediatric bowel and bladder intervention
• Home health care
• Trained facilitator for the Stepping On Falls Prevention Program

Outside of the clinic, Amy enjoys spending time with her husband, Sam, whom she has been married to for three years, and their almost 2-year-old daughter, Ruthie. They are also excited to welcome baby #2 to the family!

✨Meet Jakenda Short, PT, DPT! ✨

We're excited to spotlight McHenry native, Jakenda Short!

Jakenda earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Mary in 2026. She received her bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and Rehabilitative Studies from Valley City State University in 2022, after completing her associate degrees at Lake Region State College in 2020. During her collegiate career, Jakenda also played four years of volleyball between Lake Region State College and Valley City State University.

With previous experience as a CNA and EMT, Jakenda brings a well-rounded perspective to patient care. She is passionate about treating the whole person, building meaningful relationships with her patients, and meeting each individual where they are on their unique recovery journey.

Jakenda brings diverse care experience and specialized training:
•Outpatient orthopedics
•Neurological & vestibular rehabilitation
•LSVT BIG® certified Parkinson's therapy
•Women's health

Outside the clinic, Jakenda enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling, being outdoors, and playing with her precious golden retriever, Maggie!

We're excited to spotlight Carrington native, Brady Smith!

After graduating from Carrington High School in 2015, Brady headed to VCSU, where he played 4 years of Viking baseball ⚾ and earned his degrees in Biology and Health Science in 2019. He went on to receive his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from UND in 2022!

Brady brings specialized expertise in:
•Outpatient orthopedics
•Sports Performance
•Athletic Injuries and concussions
•Neuro rehab
•Vestibular rehab
•Level 1 Dry Needling

When he's not helping patients build strength, confidence, and get back to their favorite daily activities, you can find Brady hunting, fishing, enjoying lake time, watching sports, or hanging out with family and friends!

Michelle grew up in Williston and earned her Master’s in Physical Therapy from the University of North Dakota in 1999. With over 20+ years of experience across acute care, inpatient rehab, outpatient, home health, and skilled nursing facilities, she brings a wealth of compassionate care to our community!

Michelle brings specialized expertise in:
•LSVT BIG certified
•Vestibular rehab
•Balance training
•Stroke & neuro rehab

At home, Michelle is married to Sykeston native Michael Rexin, and together they have two kids, Jacob and Kacie. When she’s not at the clinic, she enjoys golfing, reading, heading to the lake, and spending quality time with family!

Julie earned her Physical Therapy degree from the University of Manitoba in 1995. Driven by a passion for rural healthcare and small-town living, she moved to Carrington in 2003 as a full-time Physical Therapist and has been making a difference here ever since!

Julie brings a rich background of diverse care experience, including:
• Hospital & acute care settings
• Outpatient pediatric & rehabilitation care
• Home health services

✨What Julie loves most about PT is building meaningful relationships with her patients and helping them recover—whether it’s regaining independence, finding pain relief, healing wounds, or returning to sports!

At home, Julie loves spending time with her husband Jeff, daughter Kaylin, and their full house of animals on what is fondly known as their "hobby farm." On weekends, you’ll often find them traveling to Canada to visit Family or going camping!

Meet Kyle Smith, PT, Owner/Director! 🌟

Let's shine the spotlight on our Owner and Director, Kyle Smith!

Kyle graduated from Valley City State University in 1989 and went on to earn his Physical Therapy degree from the University of North Dakota in 1991. He gained valuable early experience at St. Luke’s Midland in Aberdeen, SD—rotating through acute care, rehab, sports medicine, and spinal clinics—before treating a wide variety of patients at Mercy Hospital in Valley City, ND. 🎓

In 1997, Kyle purchased Central Dakota Physical Therapy (now Summit Physical Therapy and Sports Performance) right here in his hometown of Carrington, ND, and has proudly served as owner and director ever since!

Kyle brings extensive certifications and expertise to our team:
•Graston Technique & Myofascial Cupping certified

•Trained in the McKenzie Method of spinal evaluation & treatment

•Specialized interest in wound care & outpatient orthopedics

• Ongoing education in ergonomics & sports medicine 🏋️‍♂️

Outside the clinic, Kyle has been married to his wife, Layne, for almost 30 years, and together they have three children: Brady, Payton, and Brynn!

🌟 Meet Skye! 🌟

We’re excited to welcome Skye, a Senior at New Rockford-Sheyenne Public School to Summit PT! He’s joining us through his Cooperative Work Experience class to gain experience and learn more about a career in healthcare.

You may see Skye helping clean treatment rooms and equipment, working on projects around the clinic, and gaining observation hours with our PTs.

If you see Skye around Summit, be sure to say hi! We’re happy to have you, Skye!
