This may look like just a balance challenge… but it’s targeted brain training. 🧠

👣 Why the balance beam?
Balancing strengthens the vestibular system, which is directly tied to focus, coordination, and emotional regulation.

⚖️ Why the ankle weight?
Adding weight increases sensory input and forces the brain to become more aware of that side of the body. This helps improve coordination, stability, and left/right brain communication.

💡 When we combine balance + targeted input, we’re helping the brain organize itself more efficiently leading to:
✔️ Better focus and attention
✔️ Improved coordination and control
✔️ Stronger body awareness
✔️ More regulated behavior

I truly believe every child has greatness inside of them. Sometimes it just takes the right support and the right plan to clear the path. Seeing our kids reach milestones that once felt out of reach is one of the most beautiful parts of this work. 🌟

Your child can be incredibly smart and still struggle with focus, learning, organization, or emotional regulation.

That’s because intelligence and brain development aren’t the same thing.

Some bright kids have advanced skills in one area while struggling significantly in another. They may understand complex concepts but become overwhelmed by writing, have a great vocabulary but low frustration tolerance, or know exactly what to do but struggle to stay focused and organized.

These inconsistencies can happen when some areas of the brain develop faster than others. Understanding those developmental gaps can help explain why a capable child is struggling.

Using Melillo Method protocols, we can combine different types of targeted input based on what a child’s assessment shows their brain needs.

In this session, that includes:
• Cold laser applied to a targeted area
• Specific visual stimulation through the glasses
• Activities designed around the child’s individual brain pattern

Why combine them?

The goal is to provide targeted input to specific neurological pathways and support better communication and balance between different areas of the brain.

When those systems aren’t working efficiently together, we may see struggles with focus, regulation, coordination, sensory processing, or learning.

We assess first. Then we build the protocol around the child.

It might look unusual at first… but there’s a very specific reason we do this. 🧠

Here’s what’s happening:

👉 The cold laser targets areas like the cerebellum and upper brain regions responsible for coordination, attention, and regulation. This helps stimulate underactive neural pathways so the brain can process and respond more efficiently.

👉 The blue Eyelights provide controlled visual input to support hemispheric balance, helping activate the side of the brain that may be underperforming.

💡 When we combine targeted stimulation like this, we’re helping the brain:
✔️ Improve focus and attention
✔️ Regulate emotions more effectively
✔️ Strengthen coordination and body awareness
✔️ Build a stronger foundation for learning

This may look like just a simple game… but it’s powerful brain training. 🧠

🔴 Why the Red Eyelights Glasses?
Red light helps stimulate the brain’s alertness and attention systems, especially the reticular activating system.

When this system isn’t functioning properly, you may see:
❌ Trouble focusing
❌ Hyperactivity or zoning out
❌ Sensory overwhelm
❌ Inconsistent attention

👣 Why the foot tapping game?
Using the feet to respond builds motor planning, coordination, and timing while also strengthening brain-body communication.

Struggle with coordination or rhythm often shows up as:
❌ Difficulty with reading fluency
❌ Poor timing and processing speed
❌ Trouble staying engaged

One of the first things adults take away as a punishment may be the very thing an ADHD child’s brain needs most: movement.

For many kids who struggle with ADHD symptoms, movement provides important nervous system input that supports attention, emotional regulation, and coordination.

That’s why you may notice your child seems calmer or more focused after recess, swinging, jumping, climbing, or other physical play.

When we take that movement away as punishment, some kids actually become more dysregulated, more emotional, more impulsive, and less focused.

Instead of always asking, “How do I get my child to stop moving?” try asking:

“What is this movement doing for their brain?”

Many kids who struggle with focus, reading, or emotional regulation don’t have a motivation problem.
They have a brain imbalance.

One hemisphere may be underactive, while the other is doing too much of the work. Over time, that imbalance can show up as:
• Trouble concentrating
• Difficulty reading or writing
• Sensory overwhelm
• Impulsivity or emotional outbursts

By combining visual input with controlled tasks, we can see how efficiently the brain is communicating and where it needs support.

This is why brain-based development isn’t one-size-fits-all.
And why guessing doesn’t work.

If you’ve ever thought,
“Why does learning feel so hard for my child?”
“There has to be more going on…”

There is.

This might look like just a clapping game… but it’s training the brain. 🧠

He’s clapping in rhythm while wearing blue Eyelights and that combination is intentional.

• Rhythm builds timing (critical for reading and focus)
• Clapping improves coordination and sequencing
• Eyelights stimulate underactive brain regions tied to attention

When kids struggle with focus or reading fluency, it is often actually a timing problem.

If the brain can’t process information in a steady rhythm, everything feels harder: reading, listening, and responding.

Exercises like this help organize the brain so it can process more efficiently.

Most parents are told to practice more.
Very few are told to train the systems behind it.
