Sometimes you hike for the view. Sometimes you stop to flex with a plank.

We do high impact outdoor adventures weekly and have a dedicated adventure coordinator.

At Engage, the mountains are in our backyard, and Southern Utah gives us a pretty awesome playground. Laura, our dedicated Adventure Coordinator, takes our young adults out weekly for high-impact outdoor experiences like skiing, mountain biking, hiking, and climbing because getting outside, trying hard things, and doing cool stuff with good people is part of the work.

Continuous improvement at Engage includes strengthening not only our clinical care, but also the systems that support families.

We recently brought insurance billing and reimbursement advocacy in-house with Jenn Maney, A.A., CPC-A, who brings more than 25 years of healthcare operations and medical billing experience.

The goal is simple: give families more direct support, reduce reliance on outside billing services, and help them retain more of their insurance reimbursement whenever possible.

We received this feedback from a parent, and it means a lot to our team.

The work young adults do at Engage is not easy, and families often come to us after a long and difficult road. We are grateful when parents trust us to support their young adult as they build structure, confidence, connection, and a clearer path forward.

Most of all, we are grateful for the effort our young adults put into their own progress. That is where the real change happens.

Mountain biking, fresh air, and a chance to share a great experience together. Laura, our dedicated adventure guide, takes our young adults on weekly high-impact trips that create space for connection, confidence, and fun. At Engage, structured activities help young adults build friendships in a way that feels natural and real.

“You don’t get what you expect, you get what you tolerate.”

At Engage, we are intentional about building a culture that supports growth, ownership, and continuous improvement. That means recognizing the staff who are helping improve our systems, strengthen the delivery of care, and make the day-to-day experience better for the young adults we support.

Last week, Kaylee took the belt for continuous improvement and is still reigning supreme. Now the question is whether she keeps the title or has to surrender the belt to the next staff member ready to step into the ring and take continuous improvement to the next level.

Curbside service for driving school. We appreciate having a local driving school that gets the needs of Engage young adults and understands that neurodivergent young adults may need a different pace, more support, and a little more patience when learning to drive.

Learning to drive does not have to happen on everyone else’s timeline. It can come later, when you are ready, and still be a big step toward more independence.

It is awesome to see a young adult complete the core part of their time at Engage, move into their own apartment in Cedar City, and stay in the area to finish their undergraduate degree at Southern Utah University. That kind of step says a lot about the work they have done to build more independence, follow-through, and confidence in daily life.

What I appreciate about this next chapter is that they still get to stay connected to Engage’s community while receiving outpatient support along the way. This is the kind of transition we care about, helping young adults keep moving forward in real life while staying connected to the people and support that matter.

At Engage Young Adult Transitions, we are continuing to deepen our clinical support for young adults struggling with OCD. Zac Maag, AMFT, was recently trained in Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT), an approach that helps clients understand OCD through inferential confusion, where doubt pulls them away from direct experience and into imagined scenarios.

I-CBT helps young adults disengage from doubt-driven reasoning, reconnect with reality-based thinking, and reduce the need for compulsions. Expanding this area of clinical support reflects Engage’s ongoing commitment to thoughtful, individualized care.

It is graduation day!! We are excited to celebrate a former Engage participant graduating from Southern Utah University with a degree in engineering. Watching young adults put in the work, stay with the process, and reach milestones like this is always a big deal for our team.

This is the kind of outcome that speaks to growth, persistence, and the value of having the right support along the way. We are proud of them and excited to see what is next.

Engage is back at this year’s Annual Autism Symposium in Georgia, and we’re grateful to be part of it. We’re thankful for the opportunity to support a conference advancing thoughtful, important work with neurodivergent young people and the professionals who support them.
