Done for the day
242 miles, 7 horses , 2 barns.
Home safely- makes for a good day.
I hear this question often:
' I have a new saddle/ better girth/ haven't ridden him/ he or she has had regular bodywork: why are we having the same issues? Why is he/ she not better now?'
The answer is: imbalances
in the body or compromised tissue rarely happen overnight( unless it's caused by trauma such as an accident). It's a process that occurs over time. Sometimes over years; sometimes way before the current owner discovers it. Compromised tissue develops slowly. It builds. Other body parts and muscle groups will engage differently, to support and compensate; and we don't see it happening until there is an obvious problem.
A newly fitted saddle/ girth/ bit or exercise will help as in not adding to the damage, but it can't fix the underlying problem. The energy in the affected area has been stifled and the buildup of adhesions won't allow for proper healing.
One of my mentors once said: it takes twice as much time for a problem to go away as it has been present.
On many of my clients' horses I see progress and reversal after sometimes years of bodywork. We literally are chipping away at tired and starved tissue that needs to be re- fired with proper bloodflow and well- fitting equipment.
So hang in there, fellow horse (and dog) lovers; it is a matter of time.
