For World Su***de Prevention Day, we asked our staff one simple question:

What's your reason to stay?

Their answers are different. Their reasons are personal. But every reason is worth sharing.

Take a moment to watch. Then, think about yours.

What’s your reason to stay?

We’re proud to have had Alexander Youth Network represented in a national conversation about the responsible use of AI in nonprofit organizations.

Our Chief Information Officer, Carolyn Spence, co-presented a National Network for Youth webinar on Practical Uses of AI for Nonprofit Service Providers.

Carolyn shared practical lessons from Alexander’s approach to AI, including how organizations can start with real operational needs, protect sensitive information, establish appropriate safeguards, and identify low-risk ways technology can support staff and strengthen their work.

We’re grateful for opportunities to share what we’re learning and contribute to how nonprofit and human-service organizations are thinking about emerging technology.

This Labor Day, we recognize the dedication and hard work of the people who make our mission possible.

At Alexander Youth Network, our staff show up every day for children and families, often during some of their hardest moments. They listen. They support. They advocate. They keep going.

To our AYN team: thank you for the care you give, the work you do, and the difference you make. Your impact reaches far beyond what can always be seen.

Happy Labor Day! 💚

Celebrating Our Employees of the Quarter!

Today, we’re celebrating Beth Altmix, Melissa Cox, and Ashanti McClendon, our Employees of the Quarter!

💚 Beth Altmix continues to invest in clinical excellence, earning her NMT Phase 2 Certification, co-facilitating the NMT Phase 1 Clinical Cohort, and mentoring the next generation of clinicians.

💚 Melissa Cox stepped into her new role as Access Manager, helping connect children and families to services while bringing collaboration and clinical expertise to a critical part of the care journey.

💚 Ashanti McClendon reminds us that sometimes impact lives in the little things. From welcome baskets and Polaroid memories to a mini library of new books and doing the girls’ hair, she finds thoughtful ways to help children feel seen and cared for.

Three different roles. Three unique strengths. One shared commitment to making a difference.

Congratulations, Beth, Melissa, and Ashanti! Thank you for the care, leadership, and heart you bring to Alexander Youth Network every day. 💚

Last week, Alexander Children’s Foundation Board members created a sweet afternoon for the children we serve, complete with ice cream, toppings, and plenty of opportunities to make their perfect sundae.

They give our kids a chance to laugh, make memories, try something new, and simply enjoy being kids. They also remind them that there is a community of people who choose to show up for them.

Thank you, Alexander Children’s Foundation Board members, for making time, bringing the fun, and creating a moment our kids could call their own.

September is Su***de Prevention Month, a reminder to check in, listen, and take concerns seriously.

According to recent CDC data, 1 in 5 high school students seriously considered attempting su***de.

Behind every statistic is a young person who may be struggling in silence.

Knowing the warning signs and starting a conversation can make a difference. No child or family should have to navigate a mental health crisis alone.

If you or someone you know is in immediate crisis, call or text 988. Free, confidential support is available 24/7.
