Wyoming Breast Cancer Initiative

Wyoming Breast Cancer Initiative The Wyoming Breast Cancer Initiative (WBCI) aims to increase breast cancer awareness and prevention!!

The WBCI is a volunteer led, working board with a mission to provide grant funds that support breast cancer services across remote Wyoming; with an ultimate intent to increase survival rate and decrease late-stage diagnosis. WBCI has four priority giving areas, including education/prevention, early detection screening/diagnostic testing, patient navigation and patient/survivor support services. WB

CI has a proven ability to impact these four priority areas through Early Detection Voucher Grants and Community Grants. Early Detection Voucher Grants are awarded to the local Department of Health, Wyoming Cancer Resource Services to distribute as needed for breast cancer screenings, diagnostic testing and/or biopsies. WBCI Early Detection Vouchers are available for those in need, without any restrictions based on income, gender or age. Community Grants are awarded to Wyoming organizations providing vital breast health services through a competitive grant review process. As of 2021, WBCI has awarded over HALF-A-MILLION dollars through 75 Community Grants and 28 Early Detection Voucher Grants. Services have been provided to over 5,000 Wyoming residents. WBCI has funded: 3,881 Clinical Breast Exams; 659 Screening Mammograms; 251 Diagnostic Tests; 3,154 Patient Navigation Services and 337 Breast Boutique Services. WBCI is able to provide these vital, life saving services by raising funds throughout the year. Opportunities to join WBCI in the fight against breast cancer include: sponsorships, participating in events, donating, hosting an event in WBCI’s honor and fundraising through Facebook. For more information, please contact WBCI or visit our website at www.wyomingbreastcancer.org.

The odds were against Texas Rodeo Hall of Fame barrel racer, Angela Ganter, surviving Stage 4 breast cancer. If she did, it was incomprehensible that she might ride again, let alone compete. But Angela decided otherwise. During her ordeal, Angela somehow managed to coach her daughter, Jackie Ganter, to the WPRA Rookie of the Year title at the National Finals Rodeo (NFR). Experience how Angela “went from death’s door to the winner’s circle” and why the calls her inspirational story "the greatest comeback in rodeo history."

Mark your calendars, we're nearly a month out from WYOGIVES! 🥳

This year, by donating to the Wyoming Breast Cancer Initiative's WyoGives campaign, you will help us give back to Wyoming. Remember, all funds raised in Wyoming stay in Wyoming!🦬

Here are just a few examples of what your donation can help us do:
$25 pays for a gas card to/from screening or treatment
$50 pays for a radiologist to read the results of a mammogram or MRI
$100-$150 pays for a session of physical therapy

✨Pay close attention to our social media and website in the coming weeks as we share more stats, stories, and ways you can be impactful with your charitable donations. ✨

💜June is National Cancer Survivor Month in the United States 🩷

It is an honor for the Wyoming Breast Cancer Initiative to get to work with and learn from breast cancer survivors every day. The information on the programs we support, the events we hold, and the mission to educate and screen in Wyoming. Without their bravery and dedication to their own story, WBCI would not have one. You are an everyday reminder that a cancer diagnosis is not the end of the story.

Thank you to the breast cancer survivors of Wyoming and their teams of family, friends, caregivers, and medical professionals.
