It is with immense sadness that I announce the passing of Stanley Lis on September 2, 2026. Stanley was born on October 12, 1950, in Chicago, where he spent the majority of his life.

Everyone who met Stan will remember his passion, quick wit, charisma, strong work ethic, and dedication to his family. He worked hard throughout his life, balancing his commitment to his work with spending time with those he loved.

Stan took immense pride in his children, whether celebrating their academic milestones, professional successes, or personal accomplishments. He would proudly share their achievements with anyone who would listen.

Stan is survived by his wife, Linda Lis; his daughters, Maria Lis and Renee Pryor; and his son, Mark Lis. He also leaves behind two grandchildren, Kaley Pryor and Jake Lis.

Although Stanley may no longer be with us, his spirit and memory will live on through his wife, children, and grandchildren. As they continue their journeys, they will undoubtedly continue to make him proud. His memory will endure through the stories of his life, the lessons he passed down, and the cherished moments we will forever hold dear.

Charlotte Sullivan (83) of Chicago, Illinois passed away August 11, 2026. She was born in June of 1943 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Charles Partin and Dorothea (Todd) Partin. Charlotte met the love of her life, John “Sully” Sullivan, when she was still in high school. They were married on St. Patrick’s Day the year after she graduated and remained best friends throughout their 59 year marriage. Charlotte was a devoted wife, loving mother, dedicated daughter and loyal friend. She worked as a receptionist at Maryknoll High School and Catholic Charities, both in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Charlotte was shy but loved meeting people and seeing new places. She enjoyed traveling (as long as it didn’t involve a plane). She loved talking to people and learning about them. She made new friends easily and cherished her long-term friends deeply.
Charlotte was a woman of profound faith who centered her life on prayer and service. She was a leader for many years in the Cursillo Movement in Hawaii, which promotes deepening individuals' relationships with Christ. Charlotte was generous with her time and talent, engaging in long-term volunteering such as being a weekly square dance caller at the Pohai Nani retirement home, and cooking for the Institute for Human Services (IHS), both in Hawaii. She served as both a lector and Eucharistic Minister for many years. After moving with Sully to Chicago in October, 2010, they both became involved as volunteers at St. Gertrude...

Johanna (Josie) Navin Monaghan, cherished mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on the morning of July 25th. She had just turned 91 and was surrounded by care and love.

Johanna was born in St. Louis in 1935 to Marion and Thomas Navin. Growing up, she was the youngest of three children. Gloria was her older sister by 15 years, and Tim was the middle child. From early on, she projected a fiery and free spirit. She graduated from Immaculata High School in Detroit and up then briefly attended Michigan State, leaving after her freshman year when her father was killed in a car accident.

Later, she married and moved to New York, where she had three children, all of whom survive her (Gloria, Thomas, and Peter). After divorcing, she moved back to the Detroit area, where she raised her children on her own with the help of family and friends. Throughout this difficult time, Josie remained a force of nature, never giving up on her children and often providing emotional support to her friend and family network. Known to be upbeat, joyful, and supportive of others, she taught her children the importance of empathy and charity toward those who were poor and disadvantaged. Her loyalty and commitment to her family and friends were impenetrable and unstoppable.

Johanna was blessed to have lifelong friends, many of whom were her “First Communion” classmates at the all-girls Gesu Catholic Elementary School and later Immaculata High School of...
