ADHD in women is more than a messy desk

Many women seek answers because managing work, home, relationships, and invisible planning feels increasingly difficult. But feeling overwhelmed does not automatically mean ADHD. Assessment considers whether a pattern of symptoms began earlier in life, causes meaningful impairment, and could also be explained by sleep problems, stress, depression, anxiety, or hormonal changes. The most useful question is not “Do I relate to this reel?” It is “What pattern has followed me over time?” Save this if you are preparing for an evaluation.

Big costumes. Small safety steps. 🎃

Before you head out tonight:
• Add reflective tape and carry a flashlight.
• Go with young children. Cross at corners or crosswalks and watch for cars.
• Choose costumes that fit and keep vision clear.
• Check treats before eating. Read allergy labels and follow your child’s allergy plan.

For children who find the noise, crowds, or costumes overwhelming, try a short familiar route, comfortable clothing, and a planned quiet break. Let them skip a scary doorway or finish early.

Try saying: “You can tell me when you need a break. We can enjoy Halloween your way.”

Save this checklist and share it with the adult taking your child out tonight.

Kindness is the best treat. 🎃

The child at your door may communicate with a wave, a gesture, or a device. They may need extra time. They may prefer familiar clothes to a costume—or be older than you expected.

You don’t need to know their diagnosis or their story to welcome them.

Make your doorstep a little more inclusive tonight:
• Offer a treat without requiring words, eye contact, or a performance.
• Give children time and space to respond.
• Welcome older trick-or-treaters, too.
• Keep a quiet, well-lit option away from startling decorations.
• Offer non-food choices and let families choose what works for them.

A simple “Happy Halloween! I’m glad you’re here” can be enough.

Share this reminder with your neighbors. Every child deserves a warm welcome.
