Pope Leo XIV is out of bed, walking and eating after doctors removed a cancerous tumour from his lung, while post-surgery tests show his progress is "normal", his doctors said Wednesday.

Pope Leo XIV had surgery Tuesday at Agostino Gemelli University Policlinic in northwest Rome to remove a nodule that was determined to be pulmonary adenocarcinoma, the most common type of lung cancer.
