June is Great Outdoors Month—a time to get outside, explore, and enjoy everything nature has to offer.

Warm weather shouldn’t keep you from getting out, but summer heat can add extra challenges for amputees. Sweat inside a prosthetic socket can lead to slipping, rubbing, skin irritation, or odor.

A few simple habits can help you stay comfortable and active:
// Keep your liner clean and fully dry.
// Pack a towel or extra prosthetic socks to manage moisture.
// Monitor your skin for redness, irritation, or pressure spots.
// Take breaks in cool, shaded, or air-conditioned areas.
// Contact your prosthetist if fit or sweating becomes a concern.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and your mental health matters—especially as an amputee.

According to the Amputee Coalition, the road to recovery after an amputation can be challenging, with patients often experiencing a wide range of emotions.

Managing these emotions can be done through leaning on friends and family, exercising regularly, eating well, and joining a support group.

Thanks to all that came out to our adaptive golf clinic last week! It was great to see some new faces! The event was such a success, and we had a great time sharpening our skills, enjoying time outside, and learning more about adaptive golf techniques and equipment! Thanks to the staff of Meadow Links & Golf Academy at Winton Woods and The Bridge Adaptive Sports & Rec for always keeping it on the green! We are already looking forward to next year!
