“Skill Share Circle”
A 4 hour event I planned for months and it was over in a flash 🥺
We all wanted to instantly make this event a Weekend Retreat…. So you bet I’ll be planning it!!!!

Join us tonight for the Opening Reception for HOME: a National Juried Exhibition from 6-8pm.
Thank you to Heather Hakimzadeh, Senior Curator at Virginia MoCA, who juried this show for us.

“Home is at once a fundamental human need, a physical place, and a space that lives entirely in the mind. It is where our stories begin — and for many of us, where they continue to return.

At the same time, home is never fixed. It is personal and communal, warmly familiar and deeply contested. Its meaning shifts across lifetimes, across borders, across generations. What we call home at twenty may feel entirely foreign at forty — and what once felt foreign may, in time, become the place we belong.

This exhibition gathers artists whose work engages the idea of home in all its complexity — from nostalgic interiors and inherited landscapes to imagined futures and structures that might shelter us on distant worlds. Whether rooted in memory, architecture, identity, or longing, each work asks: what does home mean to you?”

Install Day 🎉

What an incredible treat to have the original paintings by Cleveland Based Artist .art on view during our first ever “Skill Share Circle” Birthworker Event on May 22🎉

This one night exhibition featuring Lauren’s work as well as a few of my embroidery works all surrounding the topics of birth and the early postpartum period. As we gather and share our professional skills with each other to help improve birth outcomes, we will be surrounded by works that tell our own birth journey.

As my son, Huckleberry will celebrate his 10th brith this weekend, I have been doing so much reflection on my pregnancy, birth and early postpartum with him. Giving birth at 28 weeks and learning how to continue my pregnancy with my baby outside my womb was just a lot. I have used my art practice to help heal and better understand my loved experience through that time.

Nothing can quite depict what we went through, but creating this collage/embroidery work; hand stitching the hospital blanket stripes surrounding my baby (this is an image of a 28 weeks on baby inside the womb), it just helps me process just how incredible my son is.

If I would have to sum up my life in one picture of myself (without my family in it—- which I’m almost never alone!),
This would probably be it

💕 I love outside
💕 I love going on walks
💕 I love home
💕 I love restoring my little home
💕 I love Disney
💕 I love hardcore music
💕 I love finding cute ways to make nursing friendly outfits and still look cute

I spend my days mothering my own babies, family life and supporting new mamas through their transition into motherhood ❤️

I’ll be taking a break from IG starting June-August for my Summer Sabbatical so I can solely focus on HOME Visits for Breastfeeding Support 🤱🏽🤱🏽🤱🏽

Supporting families with breastfeeding is my absolute jam
Also teaching other birth workers how to support families with breastfeeding is my life! I am getting all prepped for my upcoming Birth Professionals Event- “Skill Share Circle” will be held on Friday, May 22 at my home studio. This pioneering event will feature 16 speakers sharing a specific skill to share so we can all collaborate and improve birth outcomes 🎉
