✅PEP Celebrates Democracy! ✅

staff held a PEP Celebrates Democracy’ Open House & Early Voting event yesterday at the Connections office. The event showcased a collection of projects and activities happening throughout the PEP Community this fall, including PEP youths’ works of art, recorded performances, and classroom activities, as well as displays that connect several significant local Democracy events, persons and places to PEP’s core values and strategic framework.

The interactive event included a screening of two short-films from Cleveland VOTES!, and featured access to a recording of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s ‘Rise Up!’ speech encouraging youth civic engagement, delivered in 1967 at Glenville High School.

Resources were available for guests to preview and research their ballot, and carpool to the local Board of Elections for Early Voting or dropping off completed absentee ballots if interested.

The PEP Celebrates Democracy exhibit will remain on display through Election Day 11/3, for anyone to visit during regular building hours at the Connections Office, 3134 Euclid Ave. For a group or guided visit, please contact Julie Cummins at [email protected].

🏈 With the NFL season in full swing (go, Cleveland Browns!), we think it's a great time to share some more Super Bowl photos! Our athletes and staff had a fun day in the October sun that proved the real winners are the ones who show up and try their best.

The annual PEP Prentiss Super Bowl not only provided a fun opportunity to play a sport, but also positive mental health experiences. The activities on the field with their teachers and classmates like catching and holding on to the ball, running for the goal line, and following directions, created real opportunities for cooperation, camaraderie, and pride.

It's a perfect example of how PEP Therapeutic Schools provide an equitable community where every person is valued and experiences joy and deep fulfillment.🫶

Our latest online training is coming up next month: Creating Community within the Classroom!

In this training, participants will learn effective strategies to ensure each student feels part of the classroom community. Participants will learn classroom strategies to create community through physical spaces in the classroom.

Appropriate for all grade levels. Will be offered three times: Nov. 11, 12, and 17.

😍We're starting this week off with joy!😍

Our therapeutic schools do so many wonderful things for our students, including helping them reintegrate into their public schools when they are ready.

staff gave their student Tiana a bittersweet send off last week, as they celebrated her return to her elementary school. PEP Chesnutt Principal Denise Milner spoke for everyone when she told Tiana how proud she was of her achievement, and how much they would all miss her. Her family was there to share in the joy, and a few tears were shed through smiles. 🥲

Special days like this at our therapeutic schools create camaraderie and excitement for staff and students, and fulfill part of PEP's mission to create and embrace joy!

🍬Hey! This candy is for guessing, not eating! 🍬

staff are busy folks, often working out of their cars instead of their offices as they visit families to coordinate services for vulnerable young people who are on track for deeper system involvement, often including residential treatment, psychiatric hospitalization, juvenile court placement.

Office-based games like this are fun, but they also help staff stay connected to each other and to their home base.

Learn more about PEP's care coordination service, OhioRISE (Aetna Better Health), a specialized Medicaid managed care program for Ohio children and youth up to age 20 who have complex behavioral health and multi-system needs.

We are one PEP! 🥰

🍏Nothing says fall like crisp, tasty apples, and nothing says "hands-on experiential learning" like making your own volcano! 🌋

Kids at combined the season with the science by making apple volcanoes. It's a fun, hands-on activity that showcases chemical reactions and cause and effect. Plus, it looks really cool!
