After 3 years of trying to conceive, Nathan and Tina were overjoyed with the pending birth of their son. Their journey took an unexpected turn when Alaster was born at just 25 weeks gestation, weighing only one pound.

Faced with complex medical challenges, the family quickly adapted to meet their son's needs. After spending his first 10 months in the hospital, Alaster was finally able to come home just in time to celebrate his first birthday, with support from Aveanna.

As Nathan serves in the military and Tina pursues her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree, having dependable nursing care for Alaster was essential. Thanks to Aveanna nurses Kristin, Savanna, Yamilet, and Kristal, Alaster and his family have the support they need every step of the way. Tina can focus on her studies knowing Alaster is receiving exceptional care, and Nathan has peace of mind when duty takes him away from home.

Isla Rose came home from the hospital for the first time on September 3, and just one day later, she was welcomed into the Aveanna family.

Isla Rose faces incredible challenges each day, including holoprosencephaly, a cleft lip and palate, seizures, continuous oxygen support, and tube feeding. Through it all, she is surrounded by the unwavering love of her parents. Her dad serves on active military duty, and her mom dedicates each day to caring for their daughter.

As her dad prepares for deployment, Isla Rose and her family can count on the support of their Aveanna nurses, Jean, Caitlyn, and Kari. Their skilled care helps ensure Isla Rose can remain safe, comfortable, and at home with her family, wherever their military journey may lead.

We encourage everyone in affected areas to remain vigilant and be prepared for the effects of this storm including possible power outages and road closures.

We want to make sure our Aveanna community is prepared. Patients and their families should follow these tips based on guidance from the Oley Foundation:
• If there is a true medical emergency please call 911.
• Make sure you have back up power or batteries ready for any medical devices or pumps you depend on. Keep a battery powered radio and your cell phone charged so you can stay informed.
• Plug in any medical equipment or devices that need to be charged (e.g., ventilators, feeding pumps, mobile phones, etc.)
• Listen to appropriate warnings from governmental officials advising of precautions and evacuations.
• Check with home care suppliers and medical providers NOW to ensure that you have enough medications and nutritional supplies (formula, HPN, etc.) to last at least 48–72 hours, in case of supply chain delays.
• Write down important telephone numbers in case you cannot access the contacts on your mobile phone. This includes, but is not limited to, your home care company branch, regional and national offices.
