Tailgating makes you look like a jerk. 😌

It's highly unlikely the person in front of you is going to magically go faster just because you’ve decided their bumper needs a closer inspection.

But more importantly, following too closely leaves you little to no time to react if they suddenly brake, increasing the likelihood of a crash.

And just in case you needed another reason to back off: tailgating is a form of aggressive driving and a fantastic way to catch a rock in your windshield.

Since MedRide, a Colorado Springs-headquartered free transportation service for Medicaid recipients, enacted cutbacks on certain rides last Tuesday, patients and healthcare providers have been experiencing the effects.

“People are kind of being left high-and-dry with a company they’ve been using for years,” said Jason Jones, a caseworker at Fountain Valley Health Care, a full-service primary care clinic at which 90% of clients have federal Medicaid insurance.

A new study by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety looked at why drivers speed and what causes them to slow down. According to study authors, three in 10 drivers said speeding is the norm nowadays and that “no one actually drives the speed limit.”

Mark Jenkins, spokesman for AAA, said, "The reality is that crashes don't care what's considered normal. The faster you're going, the less time you have to avoid a dangerous situation."
