Coloring is more than a relaxing activity. It brings us together, encourages conversation, and gives our residents another enjoyable way to exercise hand dexterity and coordination.

And we’re putting all that creativity to good use! Our residents are busy preparing beautiful fall artwork to fill our activity room walls with the colors of the season. 🍁🧡

One-on-One Time with Connect 4

Sometimes a simple game is about much more than playing. One-on-one time gives us a chance to introduce something new, exercise the brain, occupational therapy and learn what each resident is capable of doing. Ee want the challenge to be enough to make them think, but also something they can finish and feel that wonderful sense of “I did it!” Sometimes we just be we lend a little help toward a win, and that’s okay too. 😊

Most importantly, it’s relational time. As we get to know each person, we learn their strengths, their capacity, how they process, and what we can use to help them continue learning. We’re not just filling time. We’re discovering what is still possible. ❤️🧠

Every Thursday, our residents gather for Brain Works, where we challenge both the mind and body in fun and meaningful ways. Today’s activity was building with magnetic tiles. It may look like a child’s toy, but it requires planning, problem-solving, hand-eye coordination, creativity, and patience.

As we get older, we don’t often have opportunities to use these skills in everyday life. That’s what makes activities like this so valuable. It was wonderful to watch our residents become excited as they figured out new designs and realized they were capable of more than they expected.

Sometimes all it takes is trying something different to remind us that our brains are still meant to learn, create, and grow. Seeing their confidence build is one of the most rewarding parts of our day.

This sweet resident is usually very shy, but today she surprised us all by spontaneously singing a patriotic song. Her joy, pride, and love for America shined through, bringing smiles to everyone around her. 🇺🇸

What a wonderful Fourth of July celebration! 🇺🇸
Yesterday was filled with fun, laughter, and patriotic spirit. We enjoyed a special lunch generously provided by a local business, and we completed with festive decorations, delicious drinks, and outstanding customer service while serving that made our residents feel truly honored.

After supper, we gathered again to wave our flags, sing patriotic songs, and enjoy a couple of fun games together. It was a joyful day of celebrating our freedoms, our community, and America’s 250th birthday! Happy 250th, America! 🇺🇸🎉
