Art Possible Ohio Our work takes us into the classroom, galleries and public arena, where we share information and resources with educators, artists and administrators.

Art Possible Ohio, (formerly VSA Ohio) is a nonprofit that connects inspired artists with their passion, service providers with resources, and all citizens with creative opportunities. From photography to music, painting, drawing, dance and movement, Art Possible Ohio works to promote the enrichment of art for all abilities across all artistic mediums. We work to change perceptions about ability a

nd disability by helping connect people to accessible, creative opportunities that inspire all of us. Art Possible is a community that connects inspired artists with their passion, service providers with resources, and all citizens with creative opportunities. By bridging arts and disability, our programs and services constantly evolve to provide inclusive environments and accessible opportunities for people with disabilities to celebrate life through the arts. Founded in 1986, we work hard to advocate for accessibility and equality, advance careers in the creative sector, build community, and improve the academic achievement of Ohio’s students through arts integration.

"Megan Fitze: What advice do you have for other artists in Columbus?
Megan Howard: Keep at it! Columbus is an amazing place to live if you’re an artist because there are so many opportunities. Look up local art groups and organizations that are available nearby, get involved, make connections, and continue to practice your art.

There are amazing opportunities here to learn, exhibit, teach and a lot of local organizations will even trade volunteer hours for studio time or class credits. The Greater Columbus Arts Council offers generous grants and opportunities for artists’ professional development.

Joining the Ohio Art League is another great way to increase opportunities to exhibit work in Columbus and other areas in Ohio.

Megan Fitze: Where can people find your art?
Megan Howard: My glass art piece, “Life in Pain,” is currently on display digitally in the Disabled Women Make History (and Art) exhibition at the Toledo Museum of Art. You can also find my glass jewelry and ornaments for sale here in Columbus at the Columbus Glass Art Center. I have a new online shop, where you can find a variety of art items, from prints to pillowcases, stickers and jewelry.

Megan’s artwork, “Helpful Ostrich,” will also be on view as part of the Accessible Expressions Ohio 2026 exhibition, July 30 – Sept. 4, at the Palmer Hall, Broad Street Presbyterian Church in Columbus."

Artist Statement: "Animals have always made an impact on me, and I often make them the subject of my art. They are able to connect with people in incredible ways and I am blown away by stories I've come across about service animals. While I have trained my family's dog to give me hugs, another animal is the focus of my piece here.

Created during a stretch of intense pain, the process of making this piece proved to be an effective way to escape my pain just enough to take the edge off, which is why it's dubbed "Helpful Ostrich."

I have lived most of my life with Behcet’s Disease and Autonomic Neuropathy. These conditions cause severe pain and fatigue, making everyday tasks very difficult.

Making art allows me to visually express myself in a cathartic way, to distract myself from pain, and to have a sense of purpose. I always keep sketch books within reach and do most of my artwork from bed."

AEO is on tour again at two new locations!

July 12th-Sept 13th: Beck Center for the Arts located at 17801 Detroit Ave, Lakewood, OH 44107.

July 30-September 4th: Palmer Hall at Broad Street Presbyterian Church located at 760 E Broad St, Columbus, OH 43205

The show is split into show A and B from this point onwards, hence the overlapping dates. Half of the show is at the Beck Center for the Arts and the other half will be at the Palmer Hall gallery concurrently.

Art Possible Ohio is seeking applicants or nominations for our Board of Directors. If you are a passionate individual who cares about advancing accessibility in the arts and culture sector, apply today!

Board of Directors Duties and Expectations:

• Actively attend 4/5 of board meetings per fiscal year.
• Art Possible Ohio’s fiscal year is July 1 - June 30
• Board terms are three years
• Attend one Art Possible Ohio program during the fiscal year
• This may happen via Zoom or in-person
• Advocate and promote Art Possible Ohio’s mission and programs via social media, personal invitation, through networking, connections, and/or what makes sense for you and the community you reside in and/or work in.
• Donate annually to Art Possible Ohio via our sliding scale contribution options (Up to $300) or help us find sponsorship for a program

Board of Directors Election & Onboarding Timeline:

• Through July 15, 2026: Board nominations and applications for Art
Possible Ohio will be considered through July 15.
• Interested parties may apply via the link or set up an informational meeting with Executive Director Megan Fitze via email at [email protected]
• Potential board members will be asked to complete the application or share a short bio and resume or CV, due to [email protected] by July 15, 2026.

• July 15 - August 15: Board elections will occur via the current Art Possible Ohio Board of Directors.

• August 15 - 20:Art Possible Ohio will notify new board members of onboarding and the board meeting schedule for the year.
• The FY27 Art Possible Board meetings will occur on the following dates and times via Zoom.
-September 1, 7 PM
-November 10, 7 PM
-February 2, 7 PM
-May 22- In-person, informal meeting at Accessible ExpressionOhio Opening Reception, to take place at the Firelands Association for the Visual Arts in Oberlin
-June 8, 7 PM

• An in-person annual meeting will be held once a year, preceding the Accessible Expressions Ohio exhibition reception. The date and location are determined by the reception site and vary annually.
