Artificial intelligence is becoming part of many aspects of healthcare—including hearing technology. Starkey Omega AI hearing devices can automatically adapt to changing listening environments, helping reduce the need for manual adjustments throughout the day.

The technology is impressive, but what matters most is how it improves everyday conversations. That's where hearing care makes the biggest difference.

Twenty-five years ago, hearing care looked very different.

Today's hearing devices are smaller, smarter, rechargeable, Bluetooth compatible, and capable of automatically adjusting to different listening environments.

Some things, however, haven't changed.

People still want to hear their grandchildren laugh.
They still want to enjoy dinner with friends.
They still want to participate in conversations without asking people to repeat themselves.

The technology has changed.

The reason we do what we do hasn't.

Behind every appointment is someone who genuinely enjoys helping people reconnect with the sounds that make everyday life easier.

This week we're introducing one of the wonderful members of our Ear Works family, Meghan. We're proud to work alongside people who care as much about our patients as they do about one another.

Help us show Meghan some appreciation in the comments!

Hearing better is only part of the experience. Feeling heard, supported, and cared for every step of the way is just as important. We're incredibly grateful when patients take the time to recognize our team. Messages like this remind us why we do what we do every day.

Thank you to this patient for your thoughtful words about Dr. Focarino and Elizabeth.

Have you had a great experience with Ear Works Audiology? We'd love to hear from you. Your feedback not only means the world to our team, but it also helps others feel confident taking the first step toward better hearing.

Some people tell us they worry hearing devices will make everything sound artificial.

That's one reason many patients appreciate Widex.

Widex has long been recognized for producing a natural listening experience while still helping improve speech understanding in challenging environments. Every person's hearing is different, but having multiple technology options allows us to recommend what fits an individual's needs—not simply what's newest.

If you've been curious about hearing technology, ask us your questions below.

Heat wave? Bring it on. ☀️💦 With record-high temperatures and sweaty summer days across the country, your hearing aids should keep up with your lifestyle, not slow you down.

Our waterproof hearing aids are designed to stand up to sweat, moisture, rain, and everyday adventures, so you can stay focused on making memories, not worrying about your devices.

Summer weekends on Long Island are busy.

Farm stands. Street fairs. Outdoor concerts. Family barbecues. If you've started avoiding those kinds of gatherings because conversations feel overwhelming, you're not alone.
One thing we've learned after seeing thousands of patients:

People usually don't stop going because they don't enjoy them anymore.
They stop because it's become too much work trying to keep up.
The right hearing technology can make those outings enjoyable again.

That's one of our favorite conversations to have.

This is one of the most common reasons people put off an evaluation.

Many people with hearing loss can hear sounds around them. The challenge is often clarity—especially when there is background noise, multiple people talking, or distance between the speaker and listener.

A hearing evaluation is not about passing or failing. It gives us a better understanding of what your ears are hearing and how well you’re processing speech.

Sometimes patients leave with recommendations. Sometimes they leave with reassurance and a baseline for the future. Either way, having answers is valuable.

Have you ever had your hearing tested? What surprised you most about the experience?

The best measure of our work is not just the technology we provide—it’s how patients feel about their experience.

Every “In Their Own Words” post comes directly from a real patient who took the time to share their story and leave a Google Review.

Hearing care is personal. It involves trust, communication and finding a solution that fits someone's everyday life. We’re grateful to every patient who allows us to be part of that process.

Have you had a positive experience with our team? We’d love to hear about it.

Check out this 5 star Google Business Profile review by arlene meisner:
My 97 year old mom and I went to the Commack office on Thursday to learn about the new technology that is now available. My mom is currently wearing an Oticon hearing aid that is 4 or 5 years old. Nadene was very clear and thorough in her explanation. There was no sales pressure. My mom needed time to digest all the details. We look forward to discussing the various options shortly. Laurie, the receptionist was friendly & helpful.
