Did you know movement is a powerful and effective way to help boost attention?
It’s true! Movement gives children a chance to get their bodies organized and ready to learn. Adding short bursts of movement throughout the day can create natural opportunities to support attention, focus, participation, and learning.
Here are some easy ways to get your child moving:
🏃 OBSTACLE COURSE: Crawl through, jump over, walk around, balance on, climb through, or carry an object from one spot to another
🐻 ANIMAL WALKS: Walk like a bear, hop like a frog, waddle like a penguin, or crawl like a crab
💃 DANCE BREAK: Turn on a favorite song, copy my movements, freeze when the music stops, or make up your own dance
🛝 PLAYGROUND: Climb, swing, slide, jump, hang, run, or play a game of chase
🎯 INDOOR PLAY: Build a movement path with pillows, jump between targets, toss a ball, or move like different animals
🌳 OUTDOOR PLAY: Run, kick a ball, ride a bike, jump, climb, explore, or play a game of tag
You don’t need a fancy setup or a lot of extra time! A few minutes of purposeful movement can be a simple way to help your child get their body and brain ready to focus. 💙
