Tonight we were proud to participate in NAMI’s Mental Health Jeopardy event!

While our celebrity contestant, Clarissa Serna-Farias , may not have taken home the trophy, she brought something even more important to the stage: resilience, compassion, and a deep understanding of mental health. She studied hard, played harder, and embodied the true spirit of sportsmanship every step of the way.

Her positive attitude, encouragement of fellow participants, and commitment to learning earned her our unofficial Mrs. Congeniality award. And while she may not have won the competition, she’ll always be a four-chair-turn winner in our book.

We’re grateful to be part of events like this that make mental health education engaging, accessible, and fun while bringing our community together. Thank you to NAMI for hosting such a fantastic evening filled with knowledge, laughter, and connection.

June is Men's Mental Health Awareness Month.

Mental health affects everyone, but many men are taught to struggle in silence.

This month, we're helping raise awareness, provide education, encourage support, and break down the stigma surrounding mental health.

At Family Counseling Service, we believe seeking support is a sign of strength. Everyone deserves a safe space to be heard, understood, and empowered to heal.

Let's continue building a community where conversations about mental health are welcomed and asking for help is encouraged.

40 Years. One Incredible Legacy.

This month, we’re celebrating Aurora Ortiz and her 40 years of service at Family Counseling Service.

For four decades, Aurora has helped individuals and families navigate life’s challenges with compassion, wisdom, and resilience. Her impact extends far beyond our walls and into the lives of countless people throughout the Coastal Bend.

As Aurora says:

“It isn’t hard, it’s challenging. You can rise to the challenge.”

Reminder: We will be closed this Monday in observance of Memorial Day.

This Memorial Day, our offices will be closed on Monday, May 25th as we take time to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
