Balance is something we don’t often think about, but when it becomes concerning it can really affect your life.

Cindy hadn’t fallen but she had many near misses and wanted to build stability. She completed physical therapy sessions with Laura Corbridge, PT at Bryan West Campus. She shares, “My therapist has taken me from being leery of leaving the house to now feeling confident leaving the house, even without an assistive device. Now I find myself doing activities that I haven’t done for a long time and feel good about them.”

The next chapter for the William Jennings Bryan Home is getting closer!

The home has been lifted, its new site is prepared and 34 specialized dollies will help guide it to its new location on the Bryan East Campus.

The move is tentatively planned for November 7, with November 14 as a backup date, depending on factors such as equipment availability or weather.

We’re excited to preserve this important piece of Nebraska history while making room for the future. Stay tuned for more details about move day!

Most colorectal cancers begin as small colon polyps that cause no symptoms. A colonoscopy is the only screening test that can both identify and remove these polyps before they have the chance to become cancer.

Dr. Laura Vance, gastroenterologist at Gastroenterology Specialties with Bryan Health, explains when you should get a colonoscopy, what to expect during the procedure and why early screening is so important.

Congratulations to Craig Sitzman, MD for receiving the Care Like Crazy Award!

A family member of a patient shared these kind words about Craig.
"On behalf of the team at Heartland Neonatology, I would like to nominate Dr. Craig Sitzman for the Care Like Crazy Award. Recently, we had a complex case where a baby was born extremely premature and was in critical condition. Dr. Sitzman took time throughout his week on service to explain the patient’s condition thoroughly. During his day off last week, he stayed at the patient’s bedside, continuing to assess and educate family on the patient’s condition so they could make a decision. The family ultimately decided to withdraw cares, and Dr. Sitzman was there to listen, answer questions, talk them through the process and be a shoulder to cry on during this very difficult time. Dr. Sitzman also took time with the nursing staff to help them as well, as this was a challenging case for a variety of reasons. This is just one of the many examples of how Dr. Sitzman Cares like Crazy and represents the high quality, compassionate care that Bryan prides itself in providing."

"Recently, an urgent neonatal transport faced an unexpected obstacle when the responding ambulance was delayed due to a crash. Knowing time was critical, Dr. Craig Sitzman and the neonatal transport team quickly adapted. Rather than risk delaying care, Dr. Sitzman used his personal vehicle to transport the RN, NNP and respiratory therapist while an ambulance carrying the transport isolette followed behind. Thanks to the team's flexibility, communication and commitment, they arrived in time to provide immediate neonatal care at delivery.

The infant was safely stabilized and transported back to Bryan Medical Center that afternoon. When circumstances threatened access to specialized care, Dr. Sitzman and the transport team found a way to ensure a newborn and family received the expert care they needed, exactly when they needed it."

Craig, thank you for the care you provide daily to your patients. You make a difference in the lives of others. We are honored that you are part of the Bryan Medical Staff.
