Our compassionate caregivers work with families to provide the best senior care and elderly care that works with your schedule and loved one’s needs. Happy Work Anniversary to Brenda G., LPN!

Brenda’s journey with Comfort Keepers of North Georgia is such a special one. She began as a caregiver, earned her CNA, continued on to nursing school, and ultimately became an LPN. Today, she works at the hospital while still choosing to remain part of our team part time as a nurse, which says so much about the heart she has for the work and the people she serves.

Brenda has always brought a kind, empathetic, and genuinely caring spirit into everything she does. She has a natural ability to make people feel comfortable, supported, and cared for, and her clinical experience only adds to the compassion and confidence she brings to those around her.

What makes Brenda’s story even more inspiring is her continued desire to grow. Her passion for helping others has stayed at the center of every step she has taken, and she hopes to one day own a home care business of her own. We love seeing that ambition paired with such a strong heart for service.

When the Woman You Love Starts Struggling With the Little Things ❤️🏠

Dorothy’s husband had always known her as fiercely independent. She made her own breakfast, tended to her plants, kept up with their home, and rarely asked him or anyone for help.Then Dorothy had a stroke, and the life they knew changed almost overnight.

Suddenly, he found himself watching her more closely. Is she okay getting up? Does she need help? Should I step in? He wanted to protect her, but every time he rushed to do something for her, he could see the frustration on her face.

That was one of the hardest parts. He wasn’t only watching his wife struggle. He was watching a woman who had always taken pride in doing things for herself realize that some of those things were harder now.

He wanted to help without making Dorothy feel like she had lost control of her own life. But he was tired too. Somewhere between worrying, helping, and anticipating what she might need next, he missed simply being her husband.

Comfort Keepers caregiver Rachel helped them find a different rhythm. Instead of taking over, Rachel became an extra set of hands when Dorothy needed one. She might prepare lunch alongside her, take care of a few things around the house while Dorothy rests, or simply give her the time she needs to do something herself.

The American Stroke Association explains that stroke can affect mobility and the ability to manage everyday activities. For Dorothy and her husband, adjusting has meant learning that accepting help doesn’t have to mean giving up independence.

Happy Work Anniversary to Lauren J., our Chief Financial Officer!

Lauren’s journey with Comfort Keepers of North Georgia began all the way back in 2012 as a caregiver, and over the years, she has grown alongside our organization in an incredible way. From directly caring for clients to stepping into leadership and ultimately becoming our CFO, Lauren has brought dedication, consistency, and a true understanding of our mission into every role she has held.

Because she started on the caregiving side, Lauren understands firsthand that the work we do is about so much more than numbers, schedules, and operations. It is about people, families, trust, and making sure those behind the scenes are doing everything they can to support the care happening in clients’ homes. That perspective has stayed with her throughout her career and continues to shape the way she leads today.

Lauren is also the military spouse of an active-duty Army Sergeant First Class and Drill Sergeant, giving her a deep appreciation for commitment, resilience, sacrifice, and service. Those same qualities are reflected in the loyalty and heart she has shown to Comfort Keepers of North Georgia for more than a decade.

Lauren, thank you for the many years you have invested in our team, our growth, and the families we serve. Meet the Team Monday: Vanessa P. 💙

Meet Vanessa P., our Client Care Coordinator and one of those special people who can walk into a room and immediately make it feel warmer, lighter, and a whole lot more fun. Her kindness, quick sense of humor, and genuine love for people make her such an important part of the Comfort Keepers of North Georgia team. 😊

Vanessa brings a unique level of compassion and understanding to her role. Before joining Comfort Keepers, she worked with children with special needs, an experience that helped shape the patience, empathy, and attentiveness she brings to the people around her today. She has a natural ability to listen, connect, and make others feel comfortable, whether she is supporting a caregiver, helping a family, or working alongside our team.

She is also multilingual and has traveled around the world, giving her an incredible appreciation for different people, cultures, and perspectives. That openness and ability to connect with so many different personalities is just one of the reasons she is so loved by our caregivers. In fact, they are often the first to tell us that Vanessa is one of the very best managers you could hope to have in your corner. She encourages them, advocates for them, listens when they need support, and makes sure they know their work is valued.

Vanessa brings so much more than coordination to her role. She brings heart, laughter, reassurance, and the kind of positive energy that helps make a team feel like a family.

Outside of work, Vanessa loves spending time with her family and her dog Bruno, being near the ocean, traveling, and making the most of every day. 🌊🐾✈️

Sometimes, the Best Exercise Is the Kind That Makes You Smile 💙

There’s something special about watching a senior get caught up in the moment, following along with the game, laughing when things don’t go quite as planned, and sharing a little friendly competition with the people around them. For a while, it isn’t about age or what may have become harder. It’s simply about having fun together. ✨

That fun can have benefits, too. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention explains that physical activity can support brain health and help older adults maintain their independence.

Caring for Dad Means Caring for You, Too ❤️

You love your dad, and you want to be there for him. But as Parkinson’s disease makes dressing, meals, and even sitting on the porch drinking coffee more difficult, being the person he depends on every day can become a lot to carry.

Maybe you’ve started skipping plans with your kids, falling behind at work, or feeling guilty anytime you do something for yourself. You want Dad to have the help he needs, but you also miss having time to simply be his daughter or son again.

Every senior carries a lifetime of stories, first jobs, raising a family, favorite traditions, proud moments, hard seasons, and memories that can still bring a smile decades later.

For our caregivers, those stories matter. When You’re Afraid of Losing the Sundays You’ve Shared for Years ❤️

For Robert’s wife, Sunday mornings had always been theirs. Getting ready side by side, walking into church together, settling into their usual seats, and catching up with friends afterward were little pieces of a life they had built together over many years.

She never imagined there might come a Sunday when getting there would feel too hard.

As Parkinson’s disease began affecting Robert’s walking and mobility, she watched simple parts of their routine require more effort. She helped because that’s what you do for the person you love. But she was getting tired too, and quietly began wondering, How much longer can I manage all of this by myself?

What hurt most wasn’t the thought of missing church. It was the thought of Parkinson’s slowly taking away another piece of the life she and Robert still loved sharing.

Comfort Keepers caregiver Mia helped take some of that weight off her shoulders. With permission from Robert and his family, Mia accompanies them to church, stays close when Robert needs a helping hand, and gives him the time he needs to move at his own pace.

The Parkinson’s Foundation encourages people living with Parkinson’s to stay connected with friends, family, hobbies, and activities they enjoy. For Robert and his wife, that connection looks like sitting beside each other in the same familiar place they have for years.

With the help of Companion Care from Comfort Keepers of North Georgia, Robert can keep participating in a tradition that remains important to both of them.

And perhaps the most meaningful part for his wife is that on Sunday morning, she doesn’t have to feel like Robert’s caregiver first. She can reach for his hand, sit beside him, and simply be his wife again. ❤️

Today is an exciting day for Comfort Keepers of Gainesville as we celebrate our continued expansion in a community that means so much to us. ❤️

For owner Jennifer Jack-Wunder, growth has never been about simply becoming a bigger company. It’s about being able to reach more people.

It means being there for another daughter who needs help caring for Mom. Another husband who wants his wife to remain comfortable at home. Another Veteran looking for support and connection. And another senior who wants to hold onto the routines, relationships, and independence that make life feel like their own.

That’s what makes this expansion so meaningful to Jennifer and our entire team. Every opportunity to grow is an opportunity to serve more families, create more meaningful caregiving jobs, strengthen community relationships, and make a difference in the place we’re proud to call home.

This October, pink represents so much more than a color. 🎀💗

Behind every breast cancer diagnosis is a woman, a family, and a circle of people whose lives are changed right alongside hers. There are moments of fear, strength, exhaustion, hope, uncertainty, and incredible courage, and no one should have to walk through those moments feeling alone.

During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Comfort Keepers of North Georgia is honoring the fighters who are still in the middle of their journey, the survivors who remind us what strength can look like, the families and caregivers who quietly show up day after day, and the beautiful lives of those we carry with us in memory.

Sometimes support looks like a ride to an appointment. Sometimes it is a meal, a phone call, sitting beside someone on a hard day, or simply reminding them that they are loved. Those small acts can mean more than we realize.

To every person whose life has been touched by breast cancer, we see you, we stand with you, and we are thinking of you this October and always. 💕
