🌱Blood building Remedies! 🧃🩸
❤️‍🩹Building the blood after birth is so important! After some births with heavier blood loss, or postpartum hemorrhage, building the blood can be vital. Without it, recovery, restoration, and supporting the mother’s body in healing and making adequate breast milk can be difficult, if not impossible.
🌱 Chlorophyll and pomegranate juice is one of our favorite combos to build the blood in a way that actually tastes good! These two natural remedies really help nourish the body to produce more healthy blood.
🥰Thanks to instacart (haha) this mama started drinking this combo within a few hours of birth!
💚Chlorophyll is nicknamed “green blood”, or “plant blood”, because the molecule resembles hemoglobin. Where the hemoglobin contains iron, chlorophyll contains magnesium. Chlorophyll helps to oxygenate the body, especially after blood loss.
♥️ Pomegranate is a traditional blood builder because it contains antioxidants that protect blood vessels and vitamin C needed to help absorb iron. It likely helps bring oxygen throughout the body because of these factors, which is vital after blood loss.
🖤 While iron rich foods, herbs, and sometimes supplements are recommended to build blood, chlorophyll and pomegranate bring the extra co-factors needed for absorption while decreasing side effects of iron, like constipation. Add some blackstrap molasses, and you have a great combo.
❓What has helped you after blood loss, anemia, or recovering after birth? We would love to hear all about it!

Tulsi 🎉 One of our favorite herbs to add to NORA tea, or drink on its own, for many benefits! I feel like we recommend this particular almost every day in our midwifery clinic, and for good reason.
😳Tulsi, also called Holy Basil or Ocimum sanctum, is a nutritive herb that can also help with blood sugar regulation and brain fog. It is adaptogenic, nervine, antioxidant, and supports the digestive system.
💕Tulsi helps your body be more sensitive to insulin so that blood sugar levels, or glucose, can more easily enter the cells. This can help reduce high blood sugar levels and reduce sugar cravings. We find it is especially helpful for high fasting glucose levels.
😴Because It works on the HPA axis, it is categorized as an adaptogen. This means it helps those with stress to adapt and feel more mentally, and physically stable, despite the stresses of life.
💙 Studies have also shown it helps regenerate stem cells in the hippocampus, repairing damage from trauma or ptsd. This helps the person process physiologically things that may be difficult. Tulsi is truly a profound plant for holistic wellness!
Many people also feel that it calms anxiety and helps them come into a state of rest and digest. Something we all need!
🤰It is safe in pregnancy because it does not cause contractions or have any teratogenic impacts. In fact, I think tulsi has the capacity to help pregnancies have even fewer complications.
So thankful for this incredible plant!
‼️ Plus, it sort of tastes like if peppermint and chamomile had a baby! It tastes wonderful to most!
🛍️Our favorite places to purchase are Tonya Snyder Zack Woods Herb Farm Foster Farm Botanicals Mountain Rose Herbs !
You can also purchase tea bags from ORGANIC INDIA USA and simply add to your Nora tea! Remember, with any natural remedy they are gentle and consistency over time results in the change our bodies are asking for.
❓Have you tried Tulsi yet?

The beautiful June Strawberry Full Moon 🍓🍓🍓 brought out the cutest little girl on July 1st! So grateful for a great team to serve such a lovely family. 💕 So proud of this mama who worked so hard for her home water birth. 🌊 Less important but the team loves to be out the door before midnight and home by 4am! 🤣🎉 Does anyone else feel like second babies always come in the middle of the night when that first little munchkin is asleep? 💤 😴🛌 I feel like we always expect it! Special thanks to doula Jessie and assist Rosabeth and Ashley! Happy birthday, little one! -Midwife Bethany

Today was a beautiful day for prenatal home visits! 🎉💕 Planning a home birth would not be complete without a birth planning session at your own home with your birth team. We love seeing our clients in their own homes, together, as a team. This gives us time to plan for logistics but also to hear all of your hopes, dreams, and fears. 💕 Thank you for inviting us into your journey. We can’t wait to see you meet your goals and hold your sweet babies in just a few short weeks. ~Midwife Bethany, Midwife Becky, and Rosabeth

Still announcing April babies and we certainly didn’t want to leave this little one out! 🩵

Repeat clients are such a joy and an honor. 🥰 Being chosen again to walk alongside families as they anticipate and welcome another sweet addition is never something we take for granted.

We are so proud of the way this mama handled - and absolutely took charge of - her lightning-fast labor and delivery! Baby Boy made his arrival and joins the crew with two proud older brothers already waiting to love on him.

Welcome to the world, sweet boy. It was such a privilege to be part of your story. ⚡️

To the women who birthed today, years ago, or are waiting for their moment: we see you. 💐

Midwifery is about more than just a safe delivery; it’s about witnessing the incredible strength, surrender and transformation that happens when a woman becomes a mother. Today, we honor the sleepless nights, the fierce love and the intuition that guides you.

Happy Mother’s Day to the heartbeat of the home. It is our greatest honor to walk beside you on this journey. 💕

Happy International Day of the Midwife!

Today, we are celebrating the heart and soul of maternal health. Whether they are supporting a first-time parent or guiding someone through their fourth (or more!) journey, midwives provide a level of personalized, compassionate care that is truly unmatched.

As someone who works behind the scenes AND someone who has been supported by midwives personally, I am constantly in awe of their skill and heart. They hold space for us in ways that stay with us for a lifetime. 🥰

Join me in thanking our midwives today! If a midwife has made a difference in your life, we’d love to hear your story in the comments. 👇
