It’s with heartfelt sorrow we announce the passing of Ms Penelope Barley, Sunday, May 3, 2026@ Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke, VA.

She was a member of the Mt. Freeman Baptist Church and loved by all she came in contact with.

A Memorial Celebration of Life service will be held Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at Noon from the D.L. McLaughlin Funeral Chapel, 4960 Riverside Dr., Danville, VA. Pastor Sherita Fowler will deliver the Word of Comfort. Interment will be privately held at a later date.

Mr. Larry Doby Warren Sr.,75, of 1468 Aspen St., Danville, VA, departed this life Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at Duke University Hospital, Durham, N.C.
He was born in Danville, February 27, 1951 to the late David Lee Hairston and Clara Marie Warren Copeland, who survives. He was married to Geneva Brown Warren of the residence.
He was retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Plant and was of the Christian Faith.
Survivors in addition to his wife of the residence, include, 2 sons: Stuart Warren(Roneshe) and Larry Doby Warren Jr.(Jakita), 7 grandchildren, 3 sisters: Jo Ann Price, Kathy Williams and Linda Clarke(Michael) 6 brothers: Peter Warren(Cheryl), , David Hairston(Nancy), Danny Hairston, Lamont Hairston, Darrell Hairston and Keith Blackwell, his stepmother, Delores Hairston and a host of other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held Thursday, May 7, 2026 from 4:00-6:00P.M. from the chapel of D.L. McLaughlin Funeral Home, 4960 Riverside Dr. A Celebration of Life will be held from the same location, Friday, May 8, 2026 @ 11:30 A.M. Pastor Emeritus, Reverend Demetrius Crews will deliver the Word of Comfort. Interment will follow at Highland Burial Park with Military Rites by the United States Army.
The family will receive guest at the residence, 107 Riceland St. from 5:00PM-8:00PM. Beginning Saturday, May 2, 2026- through Thursday, May 7, 2026.

It’s with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Mrs. Alice Virginia Whitlock Kirby,85, Monday, April 27, 2026 at Roman Eagle Health and Rehabilitation.
She was born in Halifax County, Virginia, March 11, 1941 to the late Patty Lee Kirby Whitlock. She was married to the late Luther Junior Kirby.
She is survived by three children: Marylin Marie Kirby, Linda Kirby and Timothy Kirby, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, One sister: Wynonie Penick and two brothers: Moses Whitlock and Jefferson Whitlock and a host of other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held Thursday, April 30, 2026 from 4pm-6pm at the DL McLaughlin Funeral Chapel, 4960 Riverside Dr., Danville, VA.

The Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, May 1, 2026@1:00PM from DL McLaughlin Funeral Chapel. Interment will be privately held at a later date. Pastor Keaunte Clements will deliver the Word of comfort.

It’s with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Ms Jacqueline Anita Wilson,69,Monday, April 13, 2026 at Piney Forest Health and Rehabilitation Facility. She was born July 13, 1956 in Danville to the late Bertha Louise Wilson Baxter a nd Leroy Wilson.
She was a Domestic Worked and served many families in the Danville and surrounding area.
She is survived by her last sibling, Mrs. Marie W. Carter, other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 25, 2026 at the Freedom Worship Center, Industrial Ave. at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Carl Clement will deliver the Word of Comfort. Interment will be privately held at a later date.

Mr. Raymond L. Crump,89, of Arburn, CA passed away April 14, 2026. He was born in Danville, VA to the late Cecil Crump and Lula Taylor Crump. He was the last surviving sibling of that union after recently burying his sister, Jessie Crump Ferguson, April 18, 2026.
He was a graduate of John M. Langston High School and North Carolina A&T State University where he majored in Physics and Engineering.
Survivors include six nieces, Ann, Shelia, Angela, Paula, Brenda and Sage; three nephews, Michael, Larry(Zelma) and Howard(Cassandra) and a host of other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service followed by a repast is planned for Saturday, May 30, 2026 at the D.L. McLaughlin Funeral Home, 4960 Riverside Dr.
Beginning at 12 Noon.
D.L. McLaughlin is humbly handling the local arrangements.
