It’s called ABC.
A – Antecedent
What happened before the behavior?
B – Behavior
What did your child do?

Asperger’s and Tourette’s couldn’t stop Jim Eisenreich from chasing his dreams and conquering his goals. While misunderstood as a child, Jim eventually went on to win a World Series and start a non-profit to help others.

We always say that every behavior has a message. This is true for children and adults. As a parent the way you respond to your child’s behavior, sends them a message. When we give into behavior that we do not want it tells them that that behavior is OK. Conversely, when we stand our ground and only reinforce desirable behavior we are sending them a message. It’s not easy and we know that there are times when we fall short as parents. The important thing is you keep trying to send the message you want to your child.

Not every refusal is defiance. Sometimes, the task simply feels too big.

When a child says “no,” struggles, or walks away it may be because they don’t yet know how.

Instead of focusing on the behavior, try breaking the task into smaller, achievable steps. Success builds confidence, and confidence builds independence.

Start with one small step.
Celebrate effort.
Build gradually.

Small wins today can lead to big victories tomorrow.

8 quotes that will shift the way you see autism forever

Because the world needs more understanding, more compassion, and a whole lot more celebration of neurodivergent brilliance.

These words are for every autistic person who has ever been told they were “too much” — you were never too much. You were always exactly enough.

They’re for every parent who has stayed up wondering if their child will be okay — they will be, especially with love like yours in their corner.

They’re for every teacher, therapist, sibling, and friend who shows up with patience and an open heart — you matter more than you know.

They’re for every single person who has ever felt unseen, unheard, or misunderstood — this one’s for you.

Autism is not a tragedy. It is not something to be fixed. It is a different way of experiencing a world that hasn’t always made room for different — and that needs to change. These quotes remind us that neurodiversity is a gift, not a deficit. That the people who think, feel, and see the world differently are often the ones who change it.

Save this for a hard day. Share it with someone who needs it. Tag a person who deserves to feel celebrated today.

Because representation matters. Words matter. And YOU matter.

Drop a blue heart in the comments if autism has touched your life in some way — let’s build a community here where everyone feels seen.

Save this post so you can come back to these quotes whenever you need a reminder of how beautiful and powerful neurodivergent minds truly are.

Before autism awareness became part of mainstream conversation, Daryl Hannah was quietly navigating sensory overwhelm, anxiety, and social challenges behind the scenes in Hollywood.

Her story is a reminder that autism does not always look the way people expect.

During Mental Health Awareness Month, conversations like these matter. Awareness creates understanding. Understanding creates compassion. And compassion helps people feel safe being themselves.
