It’s so hard to find the words… 😭 My mother Sophanin (Sophie) Dana, my birthday twin, passed yesterday… I spent Memorial Weekend at her side, doing my best to make her comfortable. I rubbed her back & massaged her feet. I could see the color come back to her skin so I thought I was going to have more time with her. I tried to make her laugh like she did to me when I wasn’t well. She used all her energy to smile. I had the casting call & at about 6pm yesterday, my sister called & told me she was gone.
My mother is/was my sanctuary. From a child & her rubbing my legs because of growing pains, to my years as a teenage runaway. I can still hear her crying out my name looking for me. There were also years when we had our differences but she taught me about forgiveness & that the only one it truly hurts is you. She helped raise my beautiful children & if it wasn’t for her, I would have never made it in this world.
When I was upset she’d make up the funniest jokes & just laugh about nothing. It didn’t even make sense but it was hilarious to us. She’d even have these strange ridiculous sounds she made up in place of words. Like she wouldn’t say “that’s gross” she just had a silly sound for it, Things like that will stick with me forever.
If you know me personally, then you’ll know that she’s the creative force behind my twisted silly humor. She taught me to love & laugh. That it was ok to smile while you cry. I could go on & on.
I love you with all my heart & soul! To the moon & beyond Madre’! ❤️
So to those of you that would like to help my family put her soul to rest, please join us at The 7 Day Memorial Ceremonial at The Cambodian Cultural Center, 595 Weld County Road 7, Erie, CO Sunday, Sept. 13th starting at 9am. Thank you & GOD Bless you! 😇🙏🏽😭
