Every story deserves to be heard. Every person deserves support.

July is BIPOC Mental Health Month, a time to recognize the importance of equitable, compassionate mental healthcare and to continue breaking down the barriers that can prevent people from seeking help.

Mental health challenges do not discriminate, but access to care has not always been equal. This month honors the legacy of Bebe Moore Campbell, whose advocacy helped bring national attention to the importance of improving mental health awareness, reducing stigma, and expanding access to care for communities of color.

At TaraVista and MiraVista Behavioral Health Centers, we believe healing begins by listening—with compassion, respect, and an understanding that every person's experience is unique. Whether someone is seeking help for the first time or continuing their recovery journey, we're here to provide evidence-based behavioral healthcare and outpatient substance use treatment in a welcoming and supportive environment.

Because everyone deserves to be seen. Everyone deserves to be heard. And everyone deserves access to quality mental healthcare.

💚 If you or someone you know needs support, help is available. Here.

🍅 Chip's Tips for Eating Well

It's Tomato Season!

According to The Vista's Vice President of Food Services, Chip Edgar there's nothing quite like a ripe summer tomato. Whether it's from your own garden, a local farm stand, or the grocery store, tomatoes are one of the easiest ways to add fresh flavor and nutrition to your meals.

The good news? They're good for you, too.

Tomatoes are naturally rich in vitamin C, potassium, fiber, and lycopene—an antioxidant that gives tomatoes their bright red color and has been associated with supporting heart health and protecting our cells from damage. They're also low in calories and an easy way to add more vegetables to your day.

Chip's Fresh Tomato Salad Ingredients:
• 3-4 ripe, washed tomatoes, sliced or chopped
• ¼ red onion, thinly sliced
• Fresh basil leaves
• 2 tablespoons olive oil
• 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
• Salt and freshly ground black pepper

Directions: Combine the tomatoes, onion, and basil in a serving bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, season with salt and pepper, and gently toss. Let the salad sit for about 10 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to come together.

Chip's Tip: "The best recipes don't have to be complicated. When produce is in season, let the fresh ingredients do the work."

Small choices add up. Eating more fresh fruits and vegetables is one simple way to support your overall health and well-being.
