Marshall Browning Hospital (MBH) is a fully accredited, not-for-profit Critical Access Hospital. The Hospital has 25 private acute-care beds and a workforce of over 300 employees. MBH is your community healthcare provider, situated on a beau

tiful 17-acre campus that includes a state-of-the-art rehabilitation center, and two rural health clinics: Marshall Browning Medical Clinic and the East Medical Clinic. The East Medical Clinic provides family medicine, surgery, and podiatry services. Marshall Browning Hospital offers inpatient and outpatient care; emergency, medical and surgical services, lab, rehabilitation, diagnostic imaging, and 19 specialty clinics. Our mission is to improve the health and quality of life for the people and communities we serve. Our vision is to be the hospital of choice for our community by providing exceptional patient care and outstanding service. Marshall Browning Hospital is proud of its many achievements, and above all, its friendly and family-like atmosphere. MBH has received accreditation from The Joint Commission as a result of its demonstrated compliance with The Joint Commission's nationally recognized healthcare standards. In addition, MBH offers a variety of specialty clinics that include 17 specialists from the Southern Illinois and St. This enables patients who require specialist services to remain in their local community without needing to travel out of town. Current specialty clinics offered include Cardiology, Coumadin Clinic, Dietitian Consultation, Diabetes Educator, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology/Hepatology, Nephrology, Pain Management, Podiatry, Pulmonology/Sleep Clinic, Rheumatology, General Surgery, Urology, and Wound Clinic. Marshall Browning Hospital is pleased to host the SHIP (State Health Insurance Assistance Program) counselor training. SHIP counselors receive intensive, top-tier training as they dive deep into Medicare Parts A, B, C, and D, learn the ins and outs of Medigap, and study how to avoid costly enrollment penalties. Today and over three additional days, 30 individuals will be here undergoing training and taking a certification exam so they can return to assist their communities with enrollment, plan reviews, and troubleshooting. We are proud to have three dedicated MBH employees (Deb Melton, Justine McCaleb, and Summer Woodside) undergoing training. Be proud of their hard work and willingness to serve their communities. Their knowledge, compassion, and commitment make a real difference in people’s lives. Special thanks to the instructors who travel across the state to teach the classes – Christian Fletcher, Kelly Dehlinger, and Kimberlee Poole.

Today, Jalynn, an SIU Occupational Therapy student, and Abbi, an SIU Physical Therapy Assistant student, teamed up to present to our therapy staff about the new therapy equipment, BlazePods! The BlazePods were generously provided to the therapy department by Caring and Sharing. Jalynn and Abbi are both completing their clinicals at Marshall Browning Rehab, and they demonstrated the importance of interprofessional collaboration. We appreciate Maegan King, our Occupational Therapist, and Jerica Flint, our Physical Therapy Assistant, for taking the time to bring SIU students to our rehab center for their fieldwork.

Congratulations to Addison Funk, named the 2026 Marshall Browning Hospital Scholarship winner. Addison recently graduated from Du Quoin High School and will pursue a degree in Medical Diagnostic Sonography at SIU-Carbondale in the fall. Addison will receive $1,000 each year for four years. Addison is the daughter of Bryer and Wendi Funk of Du Quoin. Guy Alongi, President of the Marshall Browning Hospital Board of Directors, presented the scholarship. The scholarship is offered annually to demonstrate the hospital’s commitment to local healthcare and youth and to inspire and encourage students to dedicate their lives to helping others. Since the program's establishment, the hospital has awarded $72,000 in healthcare scholarships to Du Quoin High School graduates.

Lukas sees patients EVERY WEDNESDAY. He conducts evaluations for common bone and joint concerns, helps determine what’s going on, and guides you toward the right next steps.
