Pap smear and pelvic exam — they’re not the same thing. 💙
A Pap smear collects cells from the cervix to look for changes that could lead to cervical cancer. A pelvic exam is a broader exam that allows your provider to check areas such as the v***a, va**na, cervix, uterus, and ovaries for signs of concern.
They may be done during the same appointment, but each serves a different purpose in supporting your health.
