Canine Fitness Tutorial: The Stand 🐕

In canine fitness we always start our exercises from a square stand.

This ensures that regardless of the exercise's difficulty, it works the targeted muscles.

A square stand presents with proper alignment of all four limbs and the spine.

Your dog's front paws should be beneath the shoulders, their hind limbs should be behind the hip joint so their hock (the angular joint on the back of the hind leg) is perpendicular to the floor, and the topline should be flat for the breed with no abnormal curvature.

This position can be strengthening on its own or used as a starting point for any fitness exercise.
