S*xual trauma can affect every aspect of a personโ€™s life, including relationships, intimacy, body image, trust, and emotional well-being. Trauma can also contribute to challenges such as anxiety around intimacy, difficulty with trust, pain during s*x, low desire, or feeling disconnected from your body.

If you've ever felt guilty for having s*xual thoughts, struggled to connect with your body, or found it difficult to enjoy intimacy despite wanting to, you're not alone.

When intimacy is primarily discussed through the lens of danger, temptation, or morality, it can become difficult to develop a relationship with it that feels safe and enjoyable. Many people find themselves believing intimacy is healthy and normal while still feeling anxious, ashamed, or disconnected from it emotionally.

If you've had a baby, you already know that your relationship with your own body doesn't come with a manual. Some days you feel proud of everything it just did, other days you barely recognize yourself, and both are allowed. Sometimes you just want someone else in the room who gets it without needing an explanation.

Join us for Contours of Us: a free event for postpartum parents who want a space to reflect on their experiences, body-image, and intimacy, alongside parents in the same season of life. We're keeping it small, just 10 spots, with free childcare for up to 5 infants and refreshments waiting for you when you arrive.

Check out our facebook event for more details and to reserve your spot!

We're so happy to welcome Melissa Huff back to CSWC, this time as a clinician! ๐ŸŽ‰

Melissa first joined us as a clinical intern, providing LGBTQIA+ and gender affirming care and supporting clients through s*xual dysfunction, anxiety, depression, and trauma. Now as an LCSWA, she's working towards full licensure while seeing clients in our Durham office and via telehealth.

Melissa believes everyone deserves to love and be loved in whatever narrative makes sense to them, and she brings a gentle, non judgmental approach to every session. In her words: "S*x therapy is a tool people can access to help them discover who they are in a healthy, affirming way. It's a stepping stone to help them be their authentic selves without any sense of guilt or shame."

Melissa accepts most BCBS, Cigna, and Aetna plans, as well as out of network and private pay clients.
