Kevin Patrick McCarthy

Kevin P. McCarthy, aged 63, passed away at his home peacefully on August 26, 2026.

Born March 16, 1963 in Ellenville, NY, Kevin had a great love for hunting, sports, family, and friends, and in recent years, a passion for golfing. He was a strongly dedicated man to caring about others, helping people, and doing the best he could at any job. Kevin was recognized for his athletic achievements in high school wrestling and football, such as carrying the title of football MVP in 1979.

Kevin’s lifelong interest of hunting gained him status in Boone and Crockett Club, Pope and Young, NYS Big Buck Club, and two Fair Chase Magazine editions, of which he was immensely proud.

He was a man that couldn’t sit still. After years of masonry work and retiring as a correctional officer, after 31 years, from the NYS Department of Corrections he moved onto a managerial position in retail. He then ended his work career at Soyuzivka Heritage Center and became Sergeant at Arms for the Ukrainian National Association, which he was deeply honored to be a part of, before full retirement.

Kevin was a strong believer in Christ and the Word, a very friendly and social person, and a well-known and well-liked member of the community. He always wanted to chat with those he ran into, never forgetting a name or face, and always had a smile and a “Bless you” to share.

For those who knew Kevin, either as a family member, a coworker, a friend, or a little league coach, he taught us how to take pride in a hard day’s work, to never take life too seriously and that every accomplishment is a reason to celebrate.

Kevin will be greatly missed by all family and friends. Predeceased by his parents Ronald G. and Kathleen P. McCarthy, sisters Sue and Peggy, brother Ronald J. He is survived by his wife Annastasia, of 38 years, daughter Victoria, son Ronald, son-in-law Alex, granddaughter Everleigh Sage, sister Ruby and brother-in-law Rick, sister Cindy, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 2, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Loucks Funeral Home in Ellenville, NY. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 3, at 11 a.m. at Loucks Funeral Home, and final ceremony and an interment at Fantinekill Cemetery in Ellenville, NY.

Aaron Christopher Meara

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Aaron Christopher Meara, who gained his wings on August 21, 2026, just days after celebrating his 36th birthday.

Aaron was born on August 17, 1990. From the very beginning, family was an important part of Aaron's life.

Aaron is survived by his son, Jayson Renstrum-Meara; sister, Alyssa Rene Meara; brother, Adam Meara; his mother, Mary Cutler; Cynthia Cutler; his father, Christopher Meara; and Laura Meara. He was also a beloved uncle to Alaina and Kohl Muller, Skylar Anzovino, and Avril Banks, and a great-uncle to Landyn Michael. Along with his extended family and many friends who loved him dearly.

Aaron was loved by his family and friends, and his absence leaves a space that can never truly be filled. Those who knew and loved him will carry his memory in their hearts, remembering the moments they shared. the love he gave, and the special place he held in their lives.

Although saying goodbye is incredibly difficult, Aaron's family finds comfort in their faith and in knowing that this goodbye is not forever. There will be a memorial service for him at Loucks Funeral Home, 79 N. Main St. Ellenville, NY on Monday August 31, 2026 from 9 AM-11 AM. Interment will take place at Fantinekill Cemetery, 8086 Route 209 Ellenville NY, following visitation. Your participation is appreciated. They look forward to the day when they will be reunited with him again.

Until we meet again, Aaron, may you rest peacefully. You are loved, remembered, and missed beyond measure.

Thomas Charles Irwin, Sr.

Thomas "Tom" Charles Irwin, Sr., passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on April 12, 1937, Tom lived a life centered on serving his Lord, his country, and his family. While his absence is deeply felt, his family and friends find comfort in knowing that his pain and suffering have ended and that he is at peace in the presence of his Lord and Savior.

Tom shared 67 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Paula Howard Irwin. Together, they built a beautiful family, a loving home, and a lifetime of cherished memories.

Tom was born in Napanoch, New York, to Clarence and Mabel VanWagner Irwin. He grew up alongside his siblings, Joan, Janet, Cappy, Barbie, and Kenny. He enjoyed countless adventures in Ulster County, experiences that helped shape the hardworking and resilient man he would become.

Throughout his life, Tom was known as a man of deep faith, unwavering integrity, and strength. A natural leader, innovator, and problem solver, he possessed an incredible work ethic that began in his youth. His determination and craftsmanship were evident in everything he did. He built his family's home, laying each cinder block with care and dedication. Gifted with his hands, Tom built furniture for his children and grandchildren, carved wooden birds, birdhouses, and horses—especially treasured by his children—and created countless other keepsakes that will be cherished for generations.

Tom's love for the outdoors was equally remarkable. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, a dedicated Scoutmaster, a farmer, and a gardener. He often joked that he loved "playing in the dirt," finding joy in working the land, raising animals, and caring for God's creation.

Tom's career reflected the same determination and commitment that defined every aspect of his life. Early in his career, he worked in the family's propane business during the day while serving as a prison guard at night. Later, Tom and Paula moved to Virginia, North Carolina, and then California, where he began a distinguished civil service career at the Navy Surface Warfare Center in Port Hueneme. Never one to stop learning, Tom became an Engineering Technician, further demonstrating his dedication to personal and professional growth. Following his retirement, he and Paula settled back in North Carolina, where Tom continued serving his community by working for Perquimans County.

Tom also became a Grand Knight of Council 4517 at St. Mary's and St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Ellenville, New York. After retiring, he became a member of St. George's Orthodox Church in Edenton, North Carolina, where a memorial service will be held at a later date. Whether serving in his church, his community, or simply offering a helping hand to a neighbor, Tom lived out his faith each day with humility, generosity, and compassion.

Above all, Tom was a devoted husband. He was an incredible father and mentor to his three children: Deborah Irwin Cinque; Thomas Charles Irwin, Jr. and his wife, Gail; and Jeanne Irwin Phelps and her husband, Michael. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Gary Cinque, and his beloved grandson, Brandon Thomas Cinque. He took great pride in his nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in his heart.

Tom will be remembered not only for his accomplishments but also for his unmistakable sense of humor. His legendary jokes, colorful sayings, and timeless idioms brought laughter to those around him. More importantly, he will be remembered for his steadfast faith, enduring strength, genuine kindness, and unwavering love for his family.

Interment will take place privately on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at 11:00 AM, in Napanoch, NY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Autism Society at autismsociety.org/donate.

Though he will be deeply missed, Tom's legacy of faith, service, hard work, and unconditional love will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him.

Michael McHugh

Michael McHugh (1966-2026)

Michael McHugh, 60, of the Bronx, NY, passed away on July 17, 2026.

He was born in the Bronx, NY in 1966 to parents, Catherine and John McHugh. He later moved to Orange County NY.

Michael was a son, brother, and father. He was predeceased in death by both parents and his brothers, Jerry, Pat and Tony. He is survived by his two daughters, Chelsea and Jessica; sister, Anne Fennel; sister, Catherine Fitzsimmons (Michael); brother, Francis McHugh (Mary Jean); sister-in-law, Jeanine; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Michael loved his motorcycle, his dog Scruff, and especially his two daughters. He was a volunteer fire fighter with the Cragsmoor Fire Department for a few years. He worked as a tattoo artist after his job of being a CDL truck driver, where he drove large rigs for many years. Michael was always known to be cracking jokes at any time and any place. He was always able to put a smile on your face. He loved his daughters more than anything and would do anything for them. He will be deeply missed by all who know and loved him.

Angela H. Depole

In Loving Memory of Angela Depole October 26, 1970 – July 27, 2026

Angela Depole, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Ellenville, New York, on July 27, 2026.

Born on October 26, 1970, Angela was a beacon of light and kindness, leaving an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Angela was the cherished daughter of Richard and Evelyn Krisel. Angela is survived by her devoted husband, Todd Depole, and their precious son, Benjamin, who were her greatest joys and her proudest achievements; her sisters, Sophia and Victoria; brother, Brian; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Angela's life was one filled with compassion, dedication, and a profound love for both people and animals. A graduate of Fallsburg High School in 1988, Angela pursued her passion for helping others by earning her degree as a Physician Assistant from SUNY Stony Brook. For 28 years, she served her community with unwavering dedication, working at Crystal Run and later at the Ulster County Annex. Her colleagues and patients remember her not only for her exceptional work ethic but also for her genuine care and kindness. Her love for animals was evident in her volunteer work with Animal Kind, where she played a vital role in the trap and release program for feral cats, striving to control and care for the population humanely. Angela's home was a sanctuary filled with animals, each one a testament to her nurturing spirit. Angela was a woman of many passions. She loved exploring the world, traveling to various countries to soak in different cultures and landscapes. Her love for nature and animals was matched only by her love for books; she was a voracious reader, always eager to learn and discover new stories.

Those who knew Angela will remember her as a person of profound beauty, both inside and out. Her heart of gold touched everyone she met, leaving a legacy of compassion and kindness. Her life was a testament to the power of love and the impact one person can have on the world.

A celebration of Angela's life will be held on August 1, 2026, at 1:00 PM at her home. Friends and family are invited to gather to honor and remember the wonderful life she led.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Angela's memory to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), an organization close to her heart.

Bruce G. Donohue

Bruce G. Donohue peacefully passed away on Saturday July 25, 2026 in Saugerties, surrounded by the love of his family. He was 89 years old. Bruce was born on October 31, 1936 in Kingston to Gardiner and Isabelle (Boice) Donohue. He grew up in Eureka (known now as Grahamsville) until his family moved to Napanoch for the building of the Rondout Reservoir, where he graduated from Ellenville High School. He briefly worked as a lineman for Bell before starting the longest running family owned trucking business in Napanoch with his loving wife, Sandra. A few of Bruce’s passions were deer hunting, fishing, drinking coffee, camping, and sitting in the back yard with the love of his life. Bruce united in marriage to Sandra on October 5, 1958, embarking on a lifelong journey filled with love and cherished memories.

Bruce is predeceased by his wife, Sandra; parents, Gardiner and Isabelle; and sister, Joan (Donohue) Kortright. He is survived by his children, Bruce (Dina), Paul (Kareen), and Troy (Bertha); grandchildren, Bruce Jr. (Raychel), Gillian (Christian), Kassandra (Brandon), Paul (Tabetha), Ian, John (Amy), Patricia (Elisa), Isabelle, Leroy, and Merrill; and great-grandchildren, Darrin, Kelsi, Kira, Timothy (TJ), Mia, Bryson, and Comeron.

Bruce dedicated his time and heart to his community. He served as lifetime member of the Ellenville Rescue Squad, where he held a position of Lieutenant. He graciously served as an Honorary Life Member of the Napanoch Fire District. Bruce will forever be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering dedication to those he loved and his community.

A memorial visitation will be held at Loucks Funeral Home on Saturday, August 1 from 11AM-2PM.

Ernest J. Smith, Sr.

Ernest J. Smith, Sr. passed away on July 18, 2026.

Ernest is survived by his children and spouses, Ernest J. Smith Jr. (Chrissy), Mark A. Smith, Joseph M. Smith (April), Wanda L. Blank (Donald), Maryella M. Burdick; step children, Mary Bickham, Christal Conklin (James), his sisters and brother, William Smith, Vivian Mahoney, Jane Smith; and many nephews and nieces.

He was a loving Father to his children and step children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was a loving brother, husband, and best friend to all. He loved camping, fishing, and watching wrestling. His smiles, laughter, and jokes always made anyone he was around feel his warmth. He will be greatly missed and always loved by everyone. It's never goodbye but always see you later.

A memorial visitation will be held at Loucks Funeral Home on Monday, August 3 from 9 - 11 AM, followed by interment at Pine Bush Cemetery.

Savannah Charlie Grace

Savannah Charlie Grace Hackett born April 3rd, 2026, was three months when she passed suddenly and unexpectedly in her sleep. She was a smiley and happy baby who lit up everyone’s lives she touched. She had beautiful blue eyes and strawberry blonde hair. Even people who didn’t know her would stop to remark at what a beautiful and happy baby she was.

Her middle name came from the desire to honor the late Charlie Kirk who her mother loved and prayed that she would have Charlie’s desires to have peaceful conversations, amazing morals and values and would touch the world and do great things as Charlie Kirk did in his lifetime. And while Savannah unfortunately did not get the chance to grow into an adult during her three months of life, she deeply touched and changed the lives of everyone who loved her.

Savannah’s favorite lullaby was Edelweiss, from the Sound of Music, and she would smile, laugh, and beam with happiness every time her Mommy sang it to her.

At only three months old she could already roll over, had gotten her first tooth, and when held with her feet on the floor, was already taking little baby steps. As well, when people would talk to her and smile at her, she would smile back at those around her, mimicking their smiles and cooing as if she was trying to have conversations with those she loved.

She loved watching baseball and soccer with her grandfather.

She loved when her Mommy would hold her close, cuddling her while stroking her head. Her Mommy had so many dreams and goals for her life, and wonderful plans of things she wished to do with her, teach her as well as celebrate with her. And it is heartbreaking to her Mommy that this won’t be possible, yet they know she is looking down at them from Heaven and will still be there to be their guardian angel.

She is survived by her mother, Shaelyn Hackett, her grandfather, Scott, her Grandfather Rowland Hackett, her Great-Grandmother and Great-Grandfather, Elga and Bill Brown, her Great-Uncle and Great-Aunt, Andre’and Mary Adamski, her maternal Aunt Violet, and her paternal uncle, as well as her older brothers, August, Aizen, and Atticus, as well as other aunts, uncles and cousins.

Savannah will be remembered, cherished, and treasured forever. Savannah was lucky enough to only know of the world’s love, kindness, happiness and peace, and all of those qualities shined through her every day that she was alive on this earth. Savannah is now in Heaven resting peacefully in the Lord’s arms.

Savannah, we all will love you forever and always. As long as we're living; our baby you'll be.

Ryan Michael Joseph Conklin

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ryan Michael Joseph Conklin, age 18, on July 2, 2026 in Ellenville, NY. Ryan was born to Chad and Julie Conklin on March 31, 2008 in Kingston, NY.

A lifelong resident of Ellenville, Ryan graduated from Ellenville High School and Sullivan BOCES Natural Resources program in 2026. Ryan was an exceptional athlete who excelled in football, baseball, track, and Taekwondo. As a physical fitness enthusiast, he spent many hours in the gym. He looked forward to serving his country and committed to the United States Air Force by entering the Delayed Entry Program. Ryan demonstrated top-tier aptitude, evidenced by an outstanding AFQT score, and planned to report for duty in August of this year.

With his bright smile and an infectious laugh, Ryan was a favorite among women of all ages. Even as a small child, he would befriend ladies in grocery stores and hug every female teacher on his way out the door when he was picked up from school. His easy charm made him popular among his coaches, teachers, peers, and co-workers. He touched everyone who knew him in some way. He was kind, considerate, and compassionate. Many days after his own football practice, Ryan would visit the youth field to help the coaches and to visit with the younger players. In addition to playing sports, Ryan enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his parents and brother. While many teenagers gravitate towards their peers, Ryan balanced his active social life with frequent visits to his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Chad and Julie (Krom) Conklin, Ryan is survived by his brother, Chad (Caleigh Cain) Conklin, grandparents Susan Conklin, Rocco (Nina Sullivan) Conklin, and Veda Krom, Uncles Keith Conklin, Tim (Cindy) Conklin, and Harry Krom, Aunts Alicia (Christian) Andersen, Sherri (Chuck Huber) Sparling, Cheriti (Jesus) Cruz, Wendy (Mark Charpentier) Krom, and a large extended family consisting of many cousins he was close with. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Harry (Jake) Krom, and his cousin, Lily Smith.

A visitation will take place at Loucks Funeral Home, 79 North Main Street, Ellenville, NY 12428 on Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 1 PM to 5 PM. The family would like to thank the community for the exceptional support provided during these sad times.

Ryan will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Without his presence, the world will be forever dimmed, lacking the bright warmth and unique light he brought into every room he entered.
