Rebecca M. Brimmer

Rebecca M. (Cook) Brimmer, 80, of Pine City, passed away on August 13, 2026 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on October 15, 1945 in Elmira, the daughter of the late Arthur P. and Ruth (VanDemark) Cook.

In her spare time, Rebecca loved to work with silk flowers, making arrangements and wreaths. She loved crafting including making things with plastic canvas. Rebecca was an avid reader. Holidays were where memories were made. She loved to decorate her home, inside and out, for Christmas and her Christmas Village was legendary. Rebecca was a vegetable gardener and took excellent care of her hummingbirds. Her strawberry rhubarb pie was a summer staple for dessert. Rebecca spent many summers at Keuka Lake, making memories with her family. Above all, she will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She made sure everyone was well-fed and loved. She was "Dr. Grandma" to her grandchildren's toys, fixing them with careful precision. She was selfless, always worked on a project and usually gave that project to others. She lived for her family.

In addition to her parents, Rebecca was preceded in death by her son, Scott W. Brimmer on April 3, 2004; her sisters, Bettey Bowen, Mary Compton, and Shirley Cory and her brother, Kenneth Cook.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Donald R. Brimmer; daughter, Theresa K. Brimmer; grandchildren, Megan L. (Tj) Glover, Jessica M. Scott and Donny (Amber) Brimmer; great-grandchildren, Kerianna Bowman, Gabriella Terrio, Trenton Mast, Isabella Wood and Ayella Brimmer; brothers, William and Douglas Cook and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service and burial will be held at Webb Mills Cemetery, 1623-1657 Pennsylvania Ave., Pine City on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at 11:30 am.

James Ambrose Clark

James A. Clark, 78, passed away on August 14, 2026 at The Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA.

He was born on October 23, 1947, the son of the late Ambrose J. and Louise (Hopkins) Clark.

Jim was a 1966 graduate of Troy High School in Troy, PA.

He honorably served in the U.S. Marines Corps from 1967-1969 during the Vietnam War, achieving the rank of Corporal. He was awarded a Purple Heart for his injuries sustained in combat.

James is predeceased by his loving wife of 54 years, Lauren.

He is survived by his daughter, Jessica Clark; brother Dave (Mimi) Clark; nephews, Mike (Toni) Clark, Steve (Holly) Clark, and Jon (Erica) Clark; nieces, Samantha Janeski (Ken Douglas), Trisha Polizzi (Max Summer) and Sara Janeski (Eric Spanbauer) and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family wishes to extend a very special thank you to the 7th ICU Unit and 6th North Floor at The Robert Packer Hospital for the wonderful care that they provided for James before and upon his death.

Barbara Jean Smith

Barbara Jean Smith, 73, of Elmira, passed away suddenly on August 6, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Elmira on June 15, 1953, the daughter of the late Frank Lewis and Barbara Grace (Kinner) Stickler.

She married Emery Smith, Jr. in 1971. They were married until his passing on January 27, 1996.

Barbara is a graduate of Southside High School.

In her spare time, Barbara loved to plant her gardens, especially her peppers, tomatoes and string beans. She loved walking when she could and later sitting on "the stoop", being the "stoop friend" to her neighbors. Above all, she will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother who was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is also preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Lou Stickler and Anne Wintermute.

She is survived by her children, Scott Smith and Angela Smith; grandchildren, Caitlyn Hunter and Kyle Hunter; great-grandchildren, Zaiden Hunter and Maddox Lins; seven sisters, Beth (Ron) Anderson, Nancy (Tom) Briggs, Tina (Ron) Beligotti, Cindy (late Gerry Sr.) Derr, Colleen (late Tom) Nemier, Collette (late Chuck) Haner and Brenda (Mark) Dominikoski and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and her loving partner, Bill Luecken.

Nora E. McDonell

Nora McDonell (61), of Elmira, NY, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family and friends. Born January 7, 1965, in Elmira to the late Rosemary and Robert McDonnell, Nora lived a life filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

She was the beloved wife of Dennis LeBaron and a devoted mother to Katie (Mishal), Azoz (Mariam), Ibrahim (Ghazayel), and Miriam (Dickie). She was a proud grandmother to 13 grandchildren, whom she adored beyond words. She also leaves behind her brothers, Mike and Tim, beloved cousins, and many lifelong friends.

Nora was truly the life of the party. She was the Karaoke Queen-wherever there was a microphone, there was Nora! She loved to sing, dance, laugh, and especially loved dancing with Dennis. Her family and friends meant everything to her and she had a beautiful way of making everyone around her feel loved and welcome.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her Uncle Thomas Tierney, his wife Marjorie, and her childhood best friend, Colleen.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to her cousins Mary Alice Miranda and Margie Hitchcock for their unwavering love and care, especially during Nora's final days. Special love goes to her childhood best friends, Eileen and Marybeth, who were like sisters to her throughout her life.

Nora leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, music, dancing, family, and friendship that will live on forever. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.

A celebration of Nora's life will be held at Mac's, 1064 S. Main St., Elmira, NY 14904, on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at 1:00 PM.

Consuela Vigliante-Ogilvie

Consuela "Connie" Vigliante-Ogilvie, 75, of Elmira, New York, passed away unexpectedly on July 29, 2026.

Born on July 14, 1951, in Brooklyn, New York, Connie was the daughter of Concetta and Ralph Vigliante. She graduated from Demerrest Northern Valley Regional High School and then obtained a B.A. in Education from Stonybrook College.

On January 15, 1977, Connie married William "Bill" M. Ogilvie. Together they shared almost 50 years of marriage.

Connie worked in a preschool in Boston and then on to Wall Street in NYC before dedicating over a decade to raising her two daughters. Connie LOVED books, especially beautiful picture books. She obtained a master's degree in library science from the University of Buffalo and embarked on a career as a public librarian. She retired from the Steele Memorial Library in December of 2024 after almost 20 years of service.

She is survived by her husband, Bill; their daughters, Lauren (Brian) Groth and Kaitlyn (Nicholas) Bacon; her cherished grandchildren, Gwendolyn Groth, Bridget Groth, Vincent Bacon, and Evelyn Bacon; her brother, Ralph (Wendy) Vigliante, their children, Maxwell and Autumn; and her sister, Christine (John) Trice, their child, Christopher. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Family and friends are invited to join us for calling hours, which will be held on August 11, 2026, from 5-7 PM at McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water St., Elmira. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Church at 604 Park Pl., Elmira at 10 AM on August 12th. Burial will follow at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Family Reading Partnership of Chemung Valley, or bring a children's book to the calling hours. We have sponsored an outdoor Little Red Bookshelf in her honor at the Big Flats Community Park and wish to spread children's books throughout the county.

Daniel J. Grimins

Daniel Joseph Grimins Sr. Doting husband of 28 years, beloved father and grandfather passed away on July 27, 2026 following a courageous battle against Congestive Heart Failure and a rare and aggressive cancer.

Daniel is predeceased by his mother, Audrey F. Grimins of Corning, NY, and his infant daughter Elizabeth Kia Grimins. Daniel is survived by his father Daniel E. Grimins of Corning; his devoted wife Kelly J. (Milosek)of Elmira; his children Daniel J. Grimins Jr. (wife Caytlyn), Rachel Morris, Autumn Grimins, Dylan Grimins and Owen Grimins; his grandchildren Kaylin Morris, Logan Morris, Jack Grimins and Joanna Grimins; his sisters Sue Walker, Debbie Peskin and Stacy Grimins; his first wife Jill Brockus (Abraham); and his many nieces and nephews.

Daniel was known as The Baby Whisperer in his wife's daycare, a position he loved and cherished. He was a fine woodworker and an aquarium and reptile enthusiast. He enjoyed playing chess with his children. Daniel also enjoyed cooking for his family and friends as well as being a thoughtful shopper and gift giver. You could always find him in his chair, shop, or on the porch watching the birds. He had a fabulous sense of humor and would put a smile on everyone's face making them feel loved and welcome.

Curt G. Perry

Curt Perry, 53, passed away at his home on July 16, 2026. He was born on March 7, 1973, in Elmira, New York to Charles and Carol Perry.

Curt was a graduate of Elmira Free Academy, class of 1991. He went on to work for AFI Cybernetics, where he was respected for his dedication, reliability, and strong work ethic.

Curt believed that life's greatest joys were often the simplest-spending time with friends, sharing stories, and making people laugh. Known for his quick wit and infectious sense of humor, he had a remarkable ability to make people laugh and feel welcome. Whether sharing stories or simply enjoying time together, Curt formed lifelong friendships and created memories that will be cherished by those who knew him. He will be remembered for his kind heart, easygoing spirit, and the joy he brought to everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Curt was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Perry and Carol Perry; his brother, Craig Perry; and his uncle, Joel Perry.

Above all, Curt was a devoted father. His greatest pride and joy were his children. His love for them was evident in everything he did, and they remained the center of his life. Through his love, guidance, and example, Curt helped raise them into the kind and compassionate people they are today. Both Mitchell and Morgan carry forward their father's strong work ethic and kind heart, a lasting testament to the values he instilled in them.

Curt is survived by his children, Mitchell Perry (Equipment Operator, Delta Constructors) and Morgan Perry (Physician Assistant Student, Upstate Medical University); Tanya Perry, the mother of his children, whose kindness, compassion, and unwavering support over the years meant a great deal to Curt and their family; his sister, Cristen (Michael) Kwiatkowski; his nephew, Jacek; his cherished honorary aunt, Janette Lovell Villie; his beloved dog, Charlotte, whom he loved dearly and cared for with all his heart; many cousins; and numerous lifelong friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Curt will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives he touched.

Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water St., Elmira NY on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. for a time of visitation, with a time to share at 11:00 a.m., followed by inurnment at Saint Peter & Paul's Cemetery.

Carolee A. Sherman

Carolee Ann (Ruocco) Sherman passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at home on the morning of Monday, July 20, 2026.

A daughter of Joseph and Lillian Ruocco, she was born on November 1, 1948, in Corning, NY. Beloved sister of Joseph (Teresa) Ruocco and Annette (Alan) Zerbe, she graduated from East High School in 1966. She then graduated from SUNY Erie Community College and received her associate's degree in dental hygiene. Carolee worked for Chemung County in the youth sealant program and for Dr. Rod Schrader as a dental hygienist for decades. She loved all her patients and kept in touch with many of them for years after.

Carolee married Larry Sherman on June 3, 1972. Life-long Elmira residents, together they raised two amazing children, Becky (Norm) Kieffer and Jeremy (Terri) Sherman.

She was a grandmother to Reese, Ava and Cael Sherman; Nolan and William Kieffer and beloved Aunt or "Kiki" to Maggie, Torie and Abbie Zerbe.

Carolee was cherished by many friends and family and enjoyed a very active life of both service and sport. She played golf, pickleball, and volunteered at both the food cupboard as well as Arnot Hospital. She was also active throughout her life as a member of St. Mary's Parish, serving as a Eucharistic Minister. Carolee was a board member of the senior gym at Chemung County Family Fitness; she lived her life through service and was always thinking of others.

She loved vacationing with her family in Rehoboth and Bethany Beach. She was an AVID Yankees fan and would pretty much watch any sport that was on TV. She was a coach and role model to both of her children. She cherished watching Ava play softball, Cael play lacrosse, and Nolan and Will perform in theater, play soccer and volleyball, respectively. She welcomed and enjoyed everyone in this community. She loved fiercely and was loved fiercely. She will not be forgotten.

Water St., Elmira for Calling Hours on Monday, July 27, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Mary's Church, 224 Franklin St, Elmira. Donald Holmes Reynolds

Donald H. Reynolds, age 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, in the company of his two sons. Born on May 7, 1944, in Coudersport, Pennsylvania, he was the eldest son of the late Donald W. Reynolds and Betty Miller (Betty V. Bird).

Don grew up in various communities across New York and Pennsylvania. He graduated from Thomas A. Edison High School in Elmira Heights, New York, where he met his first wife Linda Doan. He went on to earn a degree in psychology from Elmira College.

He served a long career with NYSEG, where he met Cheryl Cooper. The two were married in 1986 and shared a beautiful life together. Following their retirement from NYSEG, Don and Cheryl lived in Newfield, King Ferry, and Southport, New York, as well as The Villages, Florida.

They thoroughly enjoyed their retirement years, spending their winters and the majority of their time soaking up the warmth and community in The Villages. Don recently returned permanently to Southport to care for Cheryl as she courageously battled breast cancer, prior to her passing in June 2026.

Don was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cheryl Cooper Reynolds; his mother, Betty Miller; his sister, Cheryl Ann Reynolds (Tom Westropp); and his brother, Bob (Robert) Miller. He is survived by his sister, Terri Miller-Walker (Kevin Walker); his two sons, Todd Reynolds (Carolyn Reynolds) and Tim Reynolds (Ann DiPetta); and his four grandchildren, Isabelle and Camille Reynolds, and Jack and Liam Reynolds.

He also leaves behind his brother-in-law, Jan Cooper (JoAnn Cooper); sister-in-law, Kathy (Cooper) Swimelar (Jeff Swimelar); and many loving nieces and nephews: Rachel Malone (Rory Malone), Kevin Miller (Tiffany Miller), Brooks Miller (Jenna Miller), Samantha Gray (Mathew Gray), Jenna Harding (Evan Harding), BreAnn Swimelar, and Mathew Swimelar (Sara Swimelar), as well as a close-knit circle of extended family, neighbors, and dear friends from both New York and Florida.

To find oneself at the end of life surrounded by wonderful, loving people does not happen by accident. This is a testament to a life well lived. Don, you were a loved, respected, and an honorable man; you will be missed.

A Celebration of Life luncheon will be in Elmira at The Elbow Room on Saturday, August 29, 2026 from12:00 Noon - 3. p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Linda Reynolds Spirit of Nursing Award.
