On June 6, 1944, Allied Forces invaded Nazi-occupied France. Code-named Operation Overlord, it was the largest amphibious invasion in military history, landing over 150,000 American, British and Canadian troops on the beaches of Normandy. We remember and honor those brave service members who fought and gave their lives on D-Day.

Every year, someone asks why Pride is still necessary.

The answer is simple:

Pride is important because not everyone is safe being themselves.

Pride is important because some LGBTQ+ people still face rejection, isolation, discrimination, and fear because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

Pride is important because a young person may be searching for hope, a parent may be learning how to support their child, and someone may be hearing words of acceptance for the very first time.

Until every LGBTQ+ person can live as their true self without hesitation or fear …
