It’s the 1st day of Black History Month!

This month will be about celebrating our culture unapologetically, highlighting the need for us to be in positions of power to see real change, advocating for our needs with confidence, speaking up about the barriers that Black Indigenious People of Color (BIPOC) faces in the health system, reducing the stigma of seeing a therapist in our community, and prioritizing our mental health!

Our voices deserve to be heard, our health deserves to be taken seriously, and we no longer will continue to normalize generational trauma & unhealthy community standards or norms!

No more normalizing the Strong Black Woman narrative.
No more normalizing the dismissal of Black Men’s Emotions.
No more normalizing us working twice as hard to get in certain spaces.
No more normalizing anything that continues to affect us negatively, mentally, as an entire community.

It’s up to us to take our power back.

My favorite quote!

As a parent, healing was not just for me but for my child as well to break generational curses and trauma.

I’m seeing so many people practicing gentle parenting, welcoming their kid emotions and teaching them emotional intelligence, allowing their children to have choices, a voice, freedom of expression, and more.

Parenting norms are changing and this quote perfectly captures why raising your child from a healed space is important. Your child learns from you. Teach them importance of mental health early so they grow to become emotionally intelligent, mentally strong adults.
Sometimes, it’s easier to use external motivators to prioritize your healing. Prioritize your healing not only for you but for generations to come.
