There’s something truly special about antiques — every piece carries a story, a history, and a glimpse into a different time. From vintage furniture and delicate glassware to old photographs and collectibles, antiques connect generations and spark memories that might otherwise be forgotten. Our antique-style roadshow at Oakmont Manor was such a fun and meaningful experience, giving residents, staff, and visitors the chance to share treasured items and the stories behind them. It was amazing to see how these timeless pieces brought people together through conversation, nostalgia, and appreciation for the past.

Some Of Our Beautiful Moms On Mother's Day

A mother’s hands are gentle things,
They calm our fears and mend our wings.
They wipe our tears and hold us tight,
And guide us softly through the night.

Her hands have cooked and cleaned with care,
Shown endless love always there.
They’ve carried burdens, quiet and true,
Doing what mothers always do.

Though time may age them day by day,
Their warmth and love will never fade away.
For in those hands, so worn yet kind,
Lives the greatest love we’ll ever find.

We would like to introduce Mrs. Bobbie Thomas. Bobbie is a survivor of an intracerebral hemorrhage stroke that resulted in multiple changes that vastly affected her daily life. As a result of her stroke she suffered respiratory failure and was intubated for nearly 20 days and suffered significant left side hemiparesis. She admitted to Oakmont Manor on 2/19/26 with very little control of her body, her breathing, and her voice. Though her body was weak, her spirit was feisty. She proved to be very determined and with the love and support of her amazing family and Rehab Team, Bobbie returned to home on 5/1/26.

Over the course of her rehab at Oakmont Manor, Bobbie worked with PT, OT, and ST to overcome many challenges, At admission, Mrs. Thomas was unable to support her head, not being able to hold her own head up, this in conjunction with left sided facial weakness resulted in regular loss of oral secretions. Her voice was at a whisper, eye contact minimal, and she relied heavily on others to anticipate her needs. She could not move her body in bed to even minimally change position. Mrs. Thomas could not support herself to sit in a wheel chair or sit edge of bed. She was not able to stand, even with help, and could not bear weight through her legs to assist with transfers. She had decreased awareness of her left side after her stroke and was weak on her dominant right side.

But after 5-6 day a week rehabilitation, determination and hard work, Mrs. Thomas overcame every one of the challenges listed above! She discharged to home to continue recovering at home with home health and the love and support from her family, but her rehabilitation team at Oakmont will be cheering her on! The day before her discharge, Mrs. Thomas and her rehab team reflected on her journey and the successes both physically and emotionally are GREAT!! Bobbie now has breath support and voicing to carry full conversations, hold her head high, sit in a chair for lengthy periods of time. She can bear weight to assist with transfers with the assist of one person, she is more aware of her left side that has limited movement from her stroke. She can pull herself up from lying, sit edge of bed, feed herself and engage with those that love her most!!!

We are so incredibly honored to have been a part of Mrs. Thomas' recovery. We wish her good luck and continued rehab at home.
