You don't have to wait until things feel unbearable to reach out.

Call or text 988 to connect with the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline. It's free, confidential, and available 24/7.

NAMI Rappahannock encourages you to take that first step. Sometimes simply asking, “Are you okay?” can be the beginning of something important.

If you're struggling, reach out. If you're worried about someone else, you can reach out for guidance too.

You don't have to face it alone.

Asking someone how they're really doing can open the door to a conversation they may have been afraid to start themselves.

Start the conversation. Be the difference.

If you or someone you know is struggling, call or text 988 for free, confidential support 24/7.

September is Su***de Prevention Month, and NAMI Rappahannock is joining communities across the country in talking about something that can be difficult to talk about.

Starting the conversation matters.

Check in with someone. Listen without judgment. Let people know they're not alone. And know where to turn when more support is needed.

If you or someone you know is struggling, call or text 988 for free, confidential support 24/7.

Let's make space for the conversations that could make a difference.

A diagnosis can help explain what you're experiencing. It doesn't tell your whole story.

You're still a person with your own personality, relationships, dreams, strengths, and things that make you, you.

Mental health conditions are only one part of who we are.

Kristy didn’t come to NAMI because she had all the answers. She came because her family needed help.

After her daughter experienced a psychotic break, Kristy and her family were left feeling helpless and alone. That experience eventually led her to NAMI, where she found hope, connection, and a reason to help others find the same.

“NAMI gave me hope when I had nowhere to turn.”

Today, Kristy serves as Executive Director of NAMI Rappahannock, bringing her lived experience and years of nonprofit work to her role.

Her hope is simple: that no one in our community has to feel as alone as her family once did.
