How are YOU celebrating Red Ribbon Week and encouraging the young people in your life to live drug-free? We spent Monday and Tuesday at Warren County Middle School, bringing lessons about drugs and alcohol as well as resilience! We were only able to snap a few photos, as we were very busy with all of the amazing young people there, but we had a fabulous time! Thank you for having us, Warren County Middle School!

⚠️ A new study warns that just two alcoholic drinks a day can have a negative impact on your health, leading to premature death, disability, cancer, and/or heart disease. "Researchers found that among people who consumed an average of 14 alcoholic drinks per week, 1 in 25 will die from alcohol-related causes." 🚨

Underage drinking rises around Halloween due to the number of parties. Before your child heads out this weekend, make sure you make your expectations clear, and review some of the possible negative impacts alcohol can have on the developing brain, including impaired judgement and memory loss. And make sure your child knows they can call you if they're uncomfortable at a party, for any reason.

Tomorrow is the start of Red Ribbon Week, which takes place each year October 23-31. Red Ribbon Week is a way for people and communities to unite and take a visible stand against drugs. Wear a red ribbon or red clothing throughout the week to show your personal commitment to a healthy lifestyle. This year's theme is "Be a Hero. Stay drug free."

The History of Red Ribbon Week from redribbon.org:
The National Family Partnership organized the first Nationwide Red Ribbon campaign in response to the murder of Drug Enforcement Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena . Camarena was tortured and killed in Mexico in 1985 . After his murder, angered parents and youth in communities across the country began wearing Red Ribbons as a symbol of their commitment to raise awareness of the killing and destruction caused by drugs in America.

Have you had a conversation with your child about your expectations regarding drugs and alcohol? Studies have shown that children are less likely to use substances if they know their parents expect them to abstain. Have conversations early and often. They're listening!

Give Like Dolly Day on September 25th was the kickoff to a $5,000 matching gift challenge issued by BETH Waller, Realtor/Associate Broker KW-Solutions, Keller Williams Realty! The funds from this challenge go towards HALO (Helping All Little Ones) Read, our affiliate program of Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, which provides free books to children from birth to their fifth birthday. đź“–

While the Imagination Library covers most of the cost of the program, as the local affiliate, we have to make up the difference in the cost of the books, cover the mailing costs, and cover the administrative work. It costs a little over $3 per child per month. At 420 children, that makes our monthly costs more than $1,260! YOU can make a difference and help us continue providing this service to Warren County. Please consider donating just $6 to cover the cost of two children for a month. Beth's matching gift means that four children will be covered! Or, if you're able, just $36 will sponsor a child for a full year, and the match makes it two children for the year!

We have until December 1st to meet the match. Link to the donation website in the comments below. 👇
