We're grateful to Adam and Devin Pulliam, along with Daniel's Drive and Hugs for Harrison, Inc, for their gift of a Caring Cradle to NGMC Gainesville in memory of their son, Shep Pulliam.

A Caring Cradle is a cooling bassinet that gives grieving families more time to hold, photograph, and be with their baby after loss. This gift will offer that same comfort to families at NGMC Gainesville.

This Saturday is National Arts & Health Day, and we're recognizing the role creativity plays in healing. Through our Arts in Medicine program, patients experience music, visual art and other creative therapies as part of their care, offering comfort during difficult moments and space for expression during recovery. None of this would be possible without our donors. Thank you to those who help us offer this unique and beneficial complementary service!

This year's Cheryl Shippey Memorial Golf Tournament, held at Chateau Elan Winery & Resort in partnership with presenting sponsor Jackson EMC , raised more than $330,000 to support the Emergency Department expansion at NGMC Braselton.

The tournament honors Cheryl Shippey, a member of the NGHS Foundation team who passed away unexpectedly in March 2023 and cared deeply about the impact of philanthropy on our community.

Thanks to more than 120 golfers, along with our sponsors and volunteers, the ED expansion, opening this month, will more than triple in square footage and double its number of patient rooms.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Dr. Frank G. Lake, III, a beloved physician and longtime friend of the NGHS Foundation.

Dr. Lake served as medical director of Northeast Georgia Medical Center's Therapeutic Radiology Department for 45 years and led the hospital's Hospice program for 35 years, beginning in 1986. He was a devoted member of the Downey Society and a familiar face at the Medical Center Open golf tournament.

In 2022, the Foundation established the Dr. Frank G. Lake, III Impact on Philanthropy Award in his honor, and he was its inaugural recipient. The award is presented annually to physicians who drive philanthropic interest, engage in transformational giving, and connect donors to the health system.

His decades of service and generosity touched countless patients and families across our community. He will be deeply missed.

Construction is still underway on the Chuck and Diane Stephens Hospice House, and recently, donors, community members, and Hospice of NGMC staff were invited to a special event to sign one of the beams, leaving their names on the project.

These signatures will serve as a reminder of the people behind this home, future patients and families who will find comfort here because of this community's generosity.

Donor generosity makes initiatives like this possible. Through the NGHS Foundation's Change Grant program, new moms at our hospitals will now receive Roth ID Tags at discharge, a simple tool that can make a lifesaving difference in an emergency. Earlier this month, the Cheryl Shippey Memorial Golf Tournament, held in partnership with Jackson EMC, kicked off with a fun-filled VIP reception sponsored by Perkins&Will. A big thank you to our tournament co-chairs Jim and Audra Edwards, and their committee, and speakers John Kueven, Dr. Doug Morrison, and David Lee. We loved celebrating with all of you!

The Chuck and Diane Stephens Hospice House is no longer just a rendering on paper. Recently, donors who helped make this project possible joined our Hospice team for a hard-hat tour and saw firsthand how their generosity is taking shape. We broke ground last fall, and the momentum since then has been remarkable. Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to opening day.

For Jim and Audra Edwards, co-chairing the Cheryl Shippey Memorial Golf Tournament isn't about golf. It's about honoring a woman who changed the way they saw their community. It was Cheryl who first encouraged Jim to join the NGHS Foundation board, and Cheryl who invited Audra to join the golf tournament's committee. Her commitment to helping connect people with NGHS in meaningful ways has left a tremendous legacy since her death in 2023.

Funds raised from the tournament will benefit the NGMC Braselton emergency department, a facility now serving more than twice the patients it was built for. The expansion will double the number of treatment rooms, meaning shorter wait times and more neighbors getting the care they need.
