Did you know you can break a bone in your spine without ever falling?

When osteoporosis thins the inside of your vertebrae, something as ordinary as bending over or sneezing can make one collapse. It's called a vertebral compression fracture, and about two out of three of them never come to a doctor's attention.

Signs to watch for: losing height, a rounding upper back, or clothes fitting differently through your middle. And if you've had one spine fracture, your risk of another goes up, so it's worth catching early.

When does your neck complain most - scrolling, working, or waking up?

Quick question: if your mom suddenly got dizzy and couldn't see clearly out of one eye, would you think "stroke"?

Most of us were taught to look for a drooping face, a weak arm, or slurred speech. Those matter. But strokes in the back of the brain often show up as a sudden loss of balance or a sudden change in vision instead, and those are easy to brush off.

That's why I teach BE FAST: Balance, Eyes, Face, Arms, Speech, Time.

A few things I wish every family knew: • Call 911 instead of driving. The ambulance crew can get the stroke team ready before you walk in the door. • Note the time symptoms started. Doctors will ask, and it shapes treatment. • If symptoms come and go, it still counts. A "mini-stroke" is a warning sign, not a pass. • Most strokes are linked to things we can change, with blood pressure at the top of the list.
